Which DSLR camera should I get ? Sony Alpha 500 or Olympus E620?

Which DSLR camera should I get ? Sony Alpha 500 or Olympus E620?

The additional day I questioned a similar question, but with List as well. I eliminated List and have narrowed my search down to these two. Please do not send dpreview links because I have already used that site as well as some others for comparison.

Any time you have a choice in cameras with these two brands, go with the company primarily known for its cameras. Sony is an brilliant brand, but they haven’t been making cameras near as long as Olympus..

Answer by PS
Both are excellent camera, personally I would go with Olympus E620.
– Well built quality
– Excellent Lens kit
– Picture quality out of camera are fantastic
– In body stabilization is fantastic

In my opinion the Sony A500 is the better choice. It has in-camera image stabilization and a focus motor. You can use every legacy Minolta Maxxum AF lens made since 1985 on it so your lens choice is large. Plus you have access to the third-party (Vivitar, Tamron, Sigma, Tokina) lens makers who also offered lenses for the Maxxum.

The E-620 is a excellent camera but its still a 4/3 format which earnings a smaller sensor and a smaller choice of lenses.

My vote goes to the A500.

go for the Olympus Evolt E620 12.3MP Live MOS Digital SLR Camera better

I provided a link below that is web page with a side by side listing of the features and specs of these 2 cameras.

If I were getting one of these 2, I would get the Sony A500 because:

-The Sony has the 3:2 (with an option for 16:9) image ratio while the Olympus has a 4:3 image ratio.
(I prefer the 3:2 ratio, it is like 35mm not cropped.)

-The Sony has higher ISO options, up to 6400 and12800 ISO, the Olympus only goes to 3200 ISO

That is my opinion, below I listed some additional links to websites in case you want to find some more reviews or some photo dealers to check prices.

Hope this helps.

Hi,
How many pics would fit on a 2gb memory card on a Panasonic Lumix DMC-TZ5
(http://www.dpreview.com/reviews/panasoni…

They would be Jpeg

Answer by The Coolest N What
Alot like 200 +

Answer by bonnie s
It would depend on how many mega pixels you used when the exposure is taken. I would guess several hundred, a thousand or more

Answer by Petra_au
With the TZ5…you will be able to shoot approx. 420 high quality (9M/Fine) jpeg images per 2GB…or up to 8 minutes of high definition record (1280×720). You will need a high speed card, especially for recording high def. record. I recommend Sandisk Extreme III in any 2GB SD or 4GB SDHC as a minimum. Format before first use.
