What are the differences between the Nikon D60 and D3000?

In a previous question I questioned about slr cameras and got referred to the Nikon d60. I had been looking at the d3000 online. Which is the better camera?

usually, the more expensive the model, the more features it has.

I recommend you get a list instead.

D3000 has the 11-point AF sensor from a D90, while D60 uses the ancient 3-point AF sensor.

D3000 has a larger 3″ screen compare to D60′s 2.5″

D3000 comes with a guide mode (very useful for first-time dslr users).

That’s about it. Probably a small cosmetic differences, but the rest is really the same.

D3000 would be slightly better (and newer) since it’s a replacement model for the D60.

—Edit—
Ooops, I forgot to mention that the D3000 uses EN-EL9a battery which is an improved version of the ancient one too, don’t reckon it will make too huge a difference, always have a spare battery with you…

Recently I bought the Nikon D60 SLR camera and I didn’t get an extra battery because Nikon says you can take up to 500 pictures with the battery that came with it. What do you reckon? Should I get a spare?

Answer by fhotoace
I will be rare that you will find yourself shooting more than 250 shots at a time, let alone 500.

Just do what the pros do .. charge your battery the night before you are going to be shooting.

Answer by Bob J
You don’t need one, but you will want one.

There is nothing worse than running out of battery life and missing an incredible picture moment. Not to mention, that the 500 pictures limit doesn’t include you flipping through the LCD screen which takes up a lot of power.

The feel of relief that the spare battery in your pocket gives you is worth it.

What do you reckon? Answer below!
