Anyone know whats wrong with my Samsung SCD 103 Camcorder?

I have a samsung scd103 digital camcorder which has been working fine since I bought it a small more than a year ago. It’s never been dropped or distorted but as of recently when I go into to use camera mode I am only seeing a black screen on the lcd as well as the viewfinder. It seems to go back and forth when it wants to work and when it will act like this. By the way, record playback and all additional features still work fine on the camera. Anyone who would have some thought about what’s causing this conundrum would be greatly appreciated.

baggy connection in the camera, take it back for warranty, otherwise something made it come baggy. I wouldn’t take it apart

why not try changing the settings.or may be you u have to use a different sd card.also make sure bat is high and the front cover at ur lence is open.may be try zooming out.also try to find out the switch which defines the enlargement of ur view screen.may be u should try to changa settings to auto rather than manual.helps alot.if it still dosent work send ur cancord 4 servicing.hope my suggestions r useful to u.dont mind spell errors.

is it a Firewire IEEE cable i need?

To transfer DV from the miniDV tape, yes, you need a firewire cable. Firewire, IEEE1394a (usually referred to as 1394 or 1394a, not IEEE), DV and i.LINK are all the same business.

Since you did not tell us what computer you have or which firewire port it has, you will find that you have two choices:

4-pin to 4-pin

4-pin to 6-pin.

The Camcorder’s DV port is always 4-pin. Whtehr the additional side of the cable should have a 4-pin or 6-pin connector depends on the computer port.

A couple of weeks ago, I got a Belkin firewire cable at Fry’s Electronics for US$ 14. It has 6-pin firewire connectors on both sides and comes with 2 adapters to make one or both ends 4-pin connectors.
