Is sony vegas video editing software free or with any discount when you buy a sony camcorder?

I want to know if you can get sony vegas free with a sony camcorder. Like you get it with the camera or anything along persons lines.

Sony has a 15% money off on certain accessories when you register a new camcorder. I don’t know if Sony Vegas is one of persons eligible accessories.

I don’t reckon so, though it’s got to be worth haggling if you’re buying them from the same shop. Sony’s a huge company – there isn’t much of a connection between the different groups.

B&H have Vegas 6 for $ 99, but it doesn’t include the DVD authoring app. Vegas 7 has improved High Def control, which might be an issue, too. You may maybe buy the discounted V6 and then get the upgrades from Sony – it’s cheaper that way.

Another possibility would be to get a cheap copy of Vegas Movie Studio and go through the upgrade route.

The drivers using USB to transfer miniDV tape record have not been supported for a couple of years – that’s why you can’t find them. And if you did find any

chances of their working are pretty low.

You need to install a firewire card in your computer (they are typically simple to install and are cheap). Then you need a firewire cable to connect the DV port of your camcorder to the firewire port of the computer.

When you install the firewire card and it is working properly, device (camcorder) specific drivers are not needed.
