I need help getting a video from my digital camcorder onto Windows Movie Maker?

I need help getting a video from my digital camcorder onto Windows Movie Maker?

The Camcorder: it’s a mini DV (sony premium digital video), a panasonic, it has a fully charged Li-ion battery pack.

I’ve hooked it up with a USB cable to the computer but all that happened was that the first time a bubble popped up (lower right hand corner of the screen) saying something had been connected to the USB port and that it was ready to be used. Clicking the notice did nothing. So then I ran a search for new hardware to install and the computer couldn’t detect any new hardware. Now I have no clue what to do. Some public told me that I probably needed to download certain software to get the record off. Additional public told me that most camcorders can open just with Windows. Help?

The usb port is usually for still pictures or low-resolution record.

To get full record from your camera you may need a firewire port (Ieee-1394 I reckon).

If your system doesnt have one there are positively cheap add-on cards that will provide one.

Your camera may have come with some software for downloading the record.

Windows Movie Maker has a capture option .

Can you supply the model number of your camera ?

Red Eye FX 0.5x on Panasonic DVX100B
panasonic digital camcorder

This is the Red Eye FX 0.5x wide angle adaptor, for the 72mm filter thread, mounted on the Panasonic DVX100B camcorder. Life as the Panasonic is already able to go pretty wide, it was not possible to have the lens hood on at the same time. At full wide, the ring of the Red Eye poked into shot. This was not noticeable during filming, as the DVX100 displays, both EVF and pop-out monitor, both show overscan only. This is annoying since I have noticed reasonably a few modern televisions that, because they can show the full width, thanks to the perfect geometry of flat panel displays coupled with digital transmission. I do have an underscan-capable CRT field monitor though…but it was too cold to be lugging much gear around!

I recorded a record for an english project on a panasonic 42x digital zoom camcorder, whenever i hooked it up to the computer though it any said i need to connect the AC adapter.
and then we finally got something to come up through a micro chip and its saying that our files are not record files and the videocam suite [program the camcorder came with] is not even recoginizing the camera. any help?

The Panasonic SDR-S7 is calculated to be a take-anywhere camcorder, life as small as a digital compact camera and having a quick startup time of just 0.6 seconds. The 10x Optical Zoom brings your subject in close without needing to digitally zoom so retaining image quality. The Quality Widescreen and 2.7″ LCD Show records at the same resolution as right 16:9 widescreen for high quality playback on your widescreen TV. The 2.7 inch LCD monitor is also in 16:9 wide format for a large full screen image that is simple to view.
