I have a Nikon Coolpix L18 camera but no computer will recognize the sd card or USB cord, help?

I have a Nikon Coolpix L18 camera but no computer will recognize the sd card or USB cord, help?

It came with a CD ROM for the software but I can’t find it anywhere and don’t know what it was called to download or how or where from.

You really don’t need the cd. Are you sure not computers will read it? Windows should automatically bring them up. Maybe get an SD card adaptor. You can get one for around nine dollars.

The cd you are talking about is the Camera Driver software, and can usually be downloaded from Nikon’s website, under either support or downloads.
Have you tried putting the SD card into a reader? when you say that the computer does not recognize it, do you mean that the Auto Upload box doesn’t appear? or that you went into My Computer and the card was not visible as a removable disk drive?
When you connect the camera to the computer with the USB cord, make sure the camera is turned on and the batteries have plenty of power. If a window doesn’t appear to Upload automatically, go into My computer and look for your camera.
If you can view the camera, or the memory card in My Computer, it has been recognized, and you should be able to copy and paste the image files to the computer.
If you haven’t been able to try a USB card reader, and the camera will not connect even with the driver software, spend $ 10 on a card reader, and follow the steps for checking My computer that I’ve described above. If that doesn’t work, maybe there is something wrong with your USB port on your computer. Try a different port, or try your card in a photo kiosk at a department or photographic store. This will rule out a fault with your card or camera.

This is all based on the assumption that you are using a PC. I hope it is helpful.

Please give me your opinion on this camera?

Thanks

Yeah, if that’s your price range it’s definitely a good camera. You really can’t go wrong with nikon or canon products.

depends for which reason are you going to use it. that cam is not a professional one so if you think you are going to use it as a professional choose another one but if you are just going to use it as a normal cam it is good as i have one exactly like it

For a little bit more you can get a much sturdier camera with a great lens (Leica lens), and most likely you won’t be going online asking for help about what’s wrong with your Nikon Coolpix. I have a Panasonic Lumix, and it fell twice off the dinning table, and it is still working today ( got it almost 2 years now). If it was a Coolpix, it would most likely have problem the first time it fell. But what ever you decide, get an extended warranty for accidental dropping (more common than you think). Here’s a website that compare the L18 to the Panasonic. You can also compare other camera there. Good luck!
