What HD video camera should I buy?
I’m debating between 2 at the moment, the choices are the List VIXIA HG10 or the Sony Handycam HDR-SR11. Any opinions on which one I should get?
I also want something that I can use an External mic with…and what mic is excellent if I’m going to be making a movie?

Get the HG10. Besides List’s incredible optics and the fantastic picture quality from the CMOS sensor, it also shoots in 24p, which can add a nice look to your videos, or your movies, especially the latter. But, I might recommend taking a look at the HF100, which is essentially the same as the HG10 but shoots onto removable SD cards, records in full 1920×1080 HD as different to 1440×1080, and shoots 24p and 30p. Hope this helps!

Go for the HG10, hands-down.
Not going to say anything about a mic, because no excellent mics for “making a movie” are going to be in your price range.

I have a List HF100 HD record camera, I can upload videos to youtube just fine but I want to edit some of them, Like cropping, Adding music in the social class etc…
What is out there that I can use ?
So far everything seems to be 4 – 5 hundred dollars which I reckon is absolutely ridiculous.
Any recommendations ?
Yeah I have a pc, I tried the trial version of Sony Vegas and it was fine but I dont want to buy it when Ill never use 99% of the stuff on it. I dont know, Maybe ill have to invest in it if theres nothing else out there
Also, Movie make wont support my hd videos, I have the basic free version so im sure thats why

Well we would need to know if you are using a MAC or PC
Since I judge PC have Sony Vegas, Adobe Premier and After Effects etc
MACs have Final Cut Pro, and Adobe Premier along with some additional ones but they get pretty expensive
Sometimes you need to “invest” in what you like to do
Also doesn’t Windows Movie Maker work ( if you have a PC)
Or iMoveHD work ( if you have a mac)?

You can spend as small or as much as you want.

There aren’t that many excellent free record editors around. WMM is very underrated, many public don’t seem to know how versatile it is – see the tutorials page below.
Windows Movie Maker (for tutorials see http://www.windowsmoviemakers.net/ )
Avidemux – http://fixounet.free.fr/avidemux/
Movica – http://sites.google.com/site/vanibhargav/movica (not full featured but can tear/join videos)
WAX – http://www.debugmode.com/wax/
VirtualDub – http://www.virtualdub.org/
Zwei-Stein – http://www.zs4.net/ (personally I reckon this program is horrible, but it is free)
I don’t know why Microsoft did this but they kept changing the version of WMM for each version of Windows and kept messing around with the different features for each version.
WMM 2.6 (Vista) download – http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/en/details.aspx?FamilyID=d6ba5972-328e-4df7-8f9d-068fc0f80cfc&displaylang=en
WMM 5.1 – http://techblissonline.com/windows-movie-maker-51-download/ – I really don’t know what this is – maybe a hacked version of the first WMM? but it looks fascinating. This doesn’t look like an official version so be careful with it.
