If you can possibly spring for the 510 instead, try going for that. The in-body stabilization is a real help. That being said, photographers used cameras for 100 years before stabilization and took great shots throughout time. The stabilization could make the difference in a few marginal cases, but it really does help. Otherwise, the 410 is an excellent step up from point and shoot cameras and you would have many years of good shooting before you outgrow it if ever.
The Live view is handy, but adds a lot of shutter lag which is often the greatest advantage of a DSLR over a point and shoot so leave it off as much as possible and learn to shoot through the eye level viewfinder like the pros do.
Also, learn to start shooting in modes other than “Auto”. It really improves your photographic skills.
The lens system lets you use all older Olympus lenses from film cameras too.

I would totally go with the Olympus. Personally, I’ve own HP, casio, cannon, olympus, nikon cameras… and the best one is still canon. But since the only two option u get is olympus and Hp, i would totaly stick with HP. First of all, most HP products has parts made in china and assembled in china… which makes them VERY poor quality. When compared to an olympus camera, the HP looks cheaper and it FEELS cheaper. Also, olympus camera has better resolutions. Like when i wanted to buy a Samsung 10.0 MP vs a Canon 8.0MP, the canon beats the samsung because the quality of that camera is just WAY better than the samsung regardless of the MP difference. And the same goes for olympus vs hp. If you want to get ur money’s worth, buy the olympus But eventually, you would want a canon if you could afford it.
Hope that helped a little.
