For the camera
You can get a grey import but they ship from Australia from https://www.camerasdirect.com.au/index.php/cameras/dslr-cameras/list/eos-550d-new.htm
Price would be about $ 1421 including the postage
you dont get an Aus warrenty but you can save some $ and they seem to be a really excellent company to deal with, I just bought $ 2000 worth of lens from them and got it next day(they are in QLD and im in Perth)
You can buy it cheaper from oversea yourself but if the camera +postage goes over $ 1000 AUD and customs find out you get charged duty tax and admin fees.
Yes the 550 can record 1080 hd record
It seems to be a pretty excellent camera but the lens it comes with are not the best but fine for you first lenses.
