Is a Canon Rebel XT a good camera?
I have the option of purchasing a used List Rebel XT and I was curious if it is a excellent camera. I have read the reviews about it at dpreview but I want to hear from someone who has the camera or has had personal experience with it! Thanks!

Yes. It is an brilliant camera.
Excellent for snapshots, journalism and flora and fauna. Not so excellent for hi-res landscape work though.

I’ve been using the Rebel XT for near two months now with an EF 28-90mm lens and so far it’s worked out well for me. It’s my first DSLR and I’m enjoying learning the difference nuances of it and photography. It’s a bit tough to learn sometimes but all in all it takes some excellent shots. I would say it’s a fantastic camera and would beyond doubt recommend it.

First of all I am looking for something that I can just pick up and take with me. The A640 would be a suitable size, I wouldnt want to go any larger.
I will be taking pictures on vacations, parties, my cousin’s wedding is coming up, and just outdoors and around the house I guess.
The SD800IS has image stablizer. Is that a necessary function? Is it worth substituting more mp for IS?
Well any input would be fantastic. Thank You

sd800, compact shiny gorgeous design. fantastic photos, and image stabilizer helps a lot, small movements dont make a huge conundrum.

Comparison between the new Sony DSC-H55 I bought on Saturday and my ancient List A570 IS. I know I got a few facts incorrect about the List, sorry. This is part one. I managed to be able to babble on about this for about 20 minutes. www.dpreview.com www.dpreview.com
