I am not sure where to check for reviews, but I do know that you can get the 750 for a good price over at digitaldealz.net.

I frequent there often and they have great prices and great customer service.

Good luck.

BTW, check CNET for reviews.

I turned ON the “LOUD” setting… so if i put my volume at level 7 it gets loud… certain music, if I go above 7, will make the speaker sound like it cracks when the bass hits. Did they fuck up the installation or are my speakers shitty? They were cheap speakers but had good reviews.

Answer by nick ball
Don’t put it up loud because if you put it up loud enough your speakers will blow up!

Answer by wondering
First the loud or loudness setting is designed to boost the bass and treble at low volume because we don’t hear them as well at lower levels. It is supposed to be off when the volume is turned up.

Second you need to pull each speaker and gently move the cone up and down as the flex wires that go from the terminals to the cone or spider might be hitting the basket and causing a momentary short, either that or the cone is bottoming out. Either way it will damage the speaker and/or head unit’s amp if left as-is.

Best is to install a subwoofer and set the bass controls on the head unit to flat (EQ at 0, loudness and bass boost off) This will let each speaker do its job of handling the frequencies it was designed for.

It may be the best buy installation and I would call and have them take a look at it. However, it sounds like you are clipping or distorting your speakers. The average car stereo puts out 10-20×4 watts rms (rms is the rating you should consider, ignore peak). The most rms wattage ive ever seen on an aftermarket stereo was 25×4 watts rms. It sounds like the speakers you have have to high a watt rating for your stereo at that volume. Basically what is happening is that you are asking your stereo to put out more clean power than it can. By turning the loud setting on you are making the problem even worse because loud mode is forcing even more wattage out of the stereo. The cracks you hear are distortion and if you hear them on any volume your should shut of your stereo because your are most likely frying your stereo and melting the back of your speakers. You will especially notice the cracks on bass notes because they require the most energy. If it turns out the problem was not best buys install then you’ll need to either keep the volume low, buy speakers with a power an rms rating closer to the car stereos, or get an external amplifier installed to power the speakers that are distorting. The last option is most expensive but can produces the best result. A cheap speaker will not cause the type of distortion your describing.

Its not Best Buy’s install. You are tying to get too much bass from a set up that isnt designed for it. My nephew does the same thing 100 watt amp 2 old mismatched 10′s bass maxed on loud, clipping distortion and everything else, as much as I try to help him set it up right typical teenager he is right and I am wrong. It sounds like shit.
