Best Buy interview questions?

Best Buy interview questions?

Ok so I applied online and successfully completed the online interview. I then got a call and had a phone interview and successfully obtained an in-person interview. This would really be my first interview as I have NEVER been employed ever, but my friend’s step dad’s friend is a GM and he is one of references. But, during the phone interview, I said “um”, “you know…” and paused a LOT, is this common? Will it pose as a liability later on during my in-person interview and chance of employment? For example, the phone interviewer questioned “What department(s) would you like to work in and what assets may maybe you bring?” I responded; “Well, um, there isn’t a specific department I’m interested in, as I am willing to learn as much as I can from any agreed opportunity”. I am positively knowledgeable in the areas of electronics and entertainment, so I reckon I can work here. So is it a excellent business, that I got my in-person interview despite my nervous phone-interview? What tips can anyone give me? What questions will THEY question me? Can anyone provide me with some fascinating and clever questions to question THEM? What should I wear (particularly). Please, this is my first ever job interview and didn’t expect to get this far, I hope I do get the job and feel that I am adept enough to get employed. So as many tips and suggestions (and motivation?) would be GREATLY appreciated, thank you all so much! :)

Of course it’s excellent you got to the next stage- well done!

You haven’t said what job it is you are going for, so it’s hard to give specific advice. But there are some general tips to prepare for your interview-

1. Do the research into the company, the website is a excellent place to start, and if they have a public access point such as a store then visit. You want to be able to show that you know about the company eg where their offices/supplies are, if they have plans for extension, what they take pride in as a company, any the makings for career progression or training, names of key public if possible etc, etc. You may be questioned something like ‘why do you want to work for the company?’- your answer is going to be a combination of why you reckon the company is a excellent place for you eg. they are thriving, they pride themselves in their high standards etc, and what you have to offer them.

2. Really reckon about why they should give you the job, rather than somebody else. In the advert for the job, did you get details of what the job involves, and what kind of person they are looking for? If not, then you need to do some more research as above, as it’s reasonably hard to say how you are the right person if you don’t really know what skills are needed. So for instance does the job require really excellent customer service skills, knowledge of IT, product knowledge, team-work skills etc? With this information, you can prepare excellent answers during the interview.

3. Reckon of specific examples of how you can offer what they want eg if customer service is involved, reckon of times when you’ve helped someone, or handled a hard situation while remaining polite and cool. Team work? Reckon of any sports, college projects etc that show you work well with others. Highlight your knowledge of electronics and entertainment. Reckon of times when you have shown your trustworthiness, punctuality and reliability.

4. Be prepared for questions such as ‘what are your weaknesses’, or ‘is there something you would exchange about yourself’- these are calculated to catch you unawares, in order to test your honesty. Reckon carefully about what the job involves, and whether you might have any training needs for example. If you know what the job involves, you can predict what these might be eg. they know you are lacking in work experience, so you may as well admit this, remind them of your the makings and your high level of motivation to learn, and question what training is available.

As for how to dress, I would tend to advise reasonably smart, eg shirt, tie and smart trousers and shoes for a man- even if the additional staff look casual, as an interview is a business meeting. Obviously be well-groomed in your shaving, hair, socks etc, don’t wear too much after-shave.

But most of all, remember they haven’t met you in person yet! This is why they have invited you to the next stage, they want to get an impression of what you’re like face to face. Smile, make excellent eye contact with everyone you meet- and relax! There is a wealth of information on the net about breathing and muscle relaxation techniques, practice these beforehand so you’re not stressed out on this vital occasion.

As for questions to question them- don’t try to be too clever. Your research as suggested above will provide you with some questions, but if you can’t reckon of anything, or they answer everything before you get a chance to question, just say ‘ I did have some quesions prepared, but you’ve answered them all’.

if you don’t know, it doesn’t apply to you…

They are both no. Don’t worry about it. They have to question intricate stuff like that for legal reasons. If you can’t know it, chances are the answer is no.

They place persons questions on the application because the state monitors them to make sure they are an equal opportunity employer, and accept referrals from the unemployment office. It is just more government sticking their nose into business. It will have no effect on your life hired if you are a excellent candidate for the job.

You should answer no unless you were referred by a state employment service, or on welfare and must seek work to continue receiving welfare. Because you are 16, that should not apply to you.

Best Buy would be a fantastic place to work, especially if you are into tech and electronics. Have fun, meet new public, learn all you can from the vendor reps, and treat public the way you want to. Everytime I am helped by a young person at Best Buy, we chat and laugh, and if they are knowledgeable, I let the administrator know how excellent of a job they did in assisting me. When you interview, dress nice, sell yourself and show the interviewer how much you can help public in making excellent decisions, and hold from you, because you are exceptionally helpful. Your work lifestyle at 16 will be the same work lifestyle the rest of your life. If you accept the paycheck, your moral obligation is to do your best. If you do not like it, you are free to place.

Wow, a fantastic fun opportunity while in school! They will probably give you a money off, so you can stock up on all of the cool stuff before going to college!

When you get the job, and if you are in the DFW area, contact me at ftlbear@yahoo.com and let me know, and it would be fantastic to see how you are doing. Best wishes! Go for it!!
