Which should I buy & which has better resolution using high quality...canon fs100 or sony dcr sr45?...?

Which should I buy & which has better resolution using high quality...canon fs100 or sony dcr sr45?...?

The List fs100 …

pros
*$ 299
*brilliant detail (47 optical 2000 digital)
*4 stars on Amazon.com
*apparent, crisp focus on youtube (in high quality)…even better than a Vixia hf100 HD
*uses memory cards which can be a con too

cons…
-doesn’t feel as well-built as a Sony
-not so sure about List vs. Sony as far as quality in the camcorders

Sony

pros…
*nice well-built feel
*I reckon Sony camcorders might be more reliable better quality but not sure
*47 optical 2000 digital
*30 gb hard drive (may maybe also be a con if hard drive breaks)

cons…
-resolution on youtube videos when compared to the list are very pixelated/grainy when compared to the List but not sure if that’s just youtube (even if watched in high quality)
-$ 100 more than List so I feel if I go with the Sony I might as well go with a High def camera
-3 & 1/2 star rating on Amazon

Not sure which one to buy…I don’t really want to base my choice on the name brand since I care more about the quality of the resolution but can’t really buy High def right now since it’s out of my price range. Also, I’m not sure if I should just base my choice on the videos I’ve seen on youtube…the Sony videos are look terrible, while the Canons look fantastic….but maybe that’s youtube???? Also the ratings on Amazon…aren’t excellent for the Sony.

Well, any suggestions would be really appreciated.

Thanks! :)
Thanks so much for your answer. How about the List vixia hf100? It’s about $ 550 at Amazon, but is it worth it or should I just stick with the fs100? I’m not plotting on taking pictures with it because I judge it’s only 3 mp so I’d rather use my camera. Thanks again! :)

Both camcorders use the same size lenses and about the same sized imaging chips. Both camcorders save standard definition files to very highly compressed MPEG2 files. The record quality will be similar.

Digital zoom is useless and should not be used as any sort of technical comparison, so drop this from your list. When you get a camcorder, disable digital zoom – it will reduce your captured record quality if you ever use it.

The record quality differences you see on YouTube can be attributed to the way the person uploading the record captured, edited or compressed the file before they uploaded.

I no longer recommend hard drive camcorders because of their known problems with vibration and altitude.

The SR45 does not have a mic jack – I’m pretty sure the FS100 does. Neither has manual audio control , but that external mic may maybe be very useful – especially in low-audio level situations.

If these are our only two choices, the FS100 wins in my book…

I want to buy a digital camera that is shiny and thin. I’ve compared a sony and a olympus camera and the olympus camera is more thinner than the sony one, but the sony one has more ratings than the olympus one. Which one should I get, I dont know which one is better.

Answer by hotnspike
list and sony are excellent companies, but i am not sure about olympus. since i have used a list camera-i would prefer or recomend it over additional brands.

Answer by grumpy0282
they are all excellent
depends on specs/features

Answer by Earl D
All are excellent.

If the Sony has a Zeiss lens that a better lens.

Both the Sony and Olympus will cost more for the memory over the List.
