which one is better a canon gl2 or a sony ex3?

which one is better a canon gl2 or a sony ex3?

i was planning on buying a professional camcorder but idk which one to buy if both of them sucks can u recommend me a better one?

Answer by Little Dog
Are you referring to the Sony PMWEX3?

You can’t seriously be comparing a nearly $ 10,000 pro-grade, high definition, 1080p/1080i/720p, camcorder to a $ 2,800 Canon GL2 prosumer standard def camcorder.

They are in very different leagues.

I know I would be able to deal with the PMWEX3… but many consumers cannot. If you don’t know the difference between the two, I suggest you stay with the GL2 until you understand their differences – and you have the backoffice infrastructure to support its capabilities.

There are a few better camcorders… like the Sony HDW650 and HDW790… and the ultra high definition Red Scarlet or Red One… or something from Silicon Imaging.

Back to Newport
canon gl2

A day after driving into L.A. it was off to Newport, R. I. where some filming was done for the Cowsills Documentary.

both are good cameras but xl1 costs about 8-9 hundreds more than the gl2. Which one is better as far as experience not because of price factor?

Answer by Pontius
Actually there can be little obvious difference between the footage shot in point and shoot mode. However…the XL1 will come into its own when used in full manual mode where you have total control over the camera. It will also teach you more about the basics of cinematography and stand you in good stead if you want to make movies in the future. The stock lens of the Xl1 is what you pay for and well worth the extra.
There’s also another factor to consider. Because the XL1 looks more like a professional camera if you are shooting in public people will get out of your shot..or try to get into it…rather than not notice you lol.
I hope that helps
Best of luck.
