What digital cameras take the best quality photos (similar to Nikon Coolpix)?

What digital cameras take the best quality photos (similar to Nikon Coolpix)?

I had a Nikon Coolpix camera, but the latch thingy that covers where the batteries are broke. I can still use it, but it’s annoying to have to rubberband it every time I need new batteries. However, I love this camera – the picture quality is great. All my friends are amazed at the quality of the photos, compared to their more expensive cameras. Is there a camera that takes excellent quality photos similar to the Nikon Coolpix and under 200 dollars?
oh, and it was a Nikon Coolpix 4600 by the way if that helps.

Look on the Nikon website. If nothing else, the Coolpix cameras have become better than your fine 4600.

This week all the designers at my agency are getting a really cool book sent to us from the main office. The book is called "Hold my skateboard while I kiss your girlfriend". Its about the new grading system introduced to all the offices world wide. Basically if you work in China, Brazil, Kuwait or anywhere else in the world, your work will be graded like the rest. No compromises, no bullshit. I think thats a very smart grading system. I usually compare my work to international standards and thats why I grade myself normally a 5 or max 6 out of 10. There are some really fucking creative people out there and I am not anywhere near there standards. Flipping through a Creative Review issue to me is like 14 year old boy flipping through Playboy. Good design turns me on.

i’m thinking about getting a new digital camera, but im extremely picky. i want one that produces really good clear images..and i was wondering if anyone knew a website that has photos taken with canon, nikon, or sony cameras?

And if you find one, I bet you won’t be able to tell which was taken with which…

www.dpreview.com/reviews

extremely good to match you being extremely picky!!

I have bought 2 cameras after using this site. I also found once I narrowed the search down that paying for an Amateur Photographer review on their website clinched my decision

You may find other sites in a yahoo search – luminous landscape is very helpful generally. Good luck.

Go to this page at dpreview: http://www.dpreview.com/reviews/sidebyside.asp

Put the cameras you want to compare in the selection list with the Add>> button.

Hit “Compare side-by-side.”

Not only will you usually see “Our in-depth review,” but you will also see “Our samples gallery.” Much of the time, you will find similar shots in the samples galleries, because the writers just go out into the neighborhood and shoot some familiar landmarks and similar scenes. It is helpful to open a second copy of your internet browser and put one sample gallery in one window and the other sample gallery in the other so you can do quick A-B comparisons.

Be sure to note that you can click on the file name under the photo and get the original size, if you want to do some serious pixel peeping.

Sigma aims SD1 at pro photographers
The $ 9,700 SLR’s Foveon sensor captures three colors per pixel rather than the usual one. Sigma is betting people will pay for that difference.
