The energizer batteries run down FAST in my Kodak digital camera. Are there longer lasting batteries for cams?

The energizer batteries run down FAST in my Kodak digital camera. Are there longer lasting batteries for cams?

I hardly use the camera. I only use it here and there and it doesn’t take long till the two double AA energizer batteries die. I figure there MUST be a better battery to use on my Kodak camera.

Please help! I’ll choose the best answer cause I always do (unlike some people) because I appreciate the feedback very much. And voting helps A LOT.

Thank you! :)

I’ve had great luck using Energizer Lithium batteries. They’re expensive, but they last much, much longer than alkalines. Ni-Cad (rechargeable) batteries are also an option, but they don’t last that much longer.

How about rechargeable batteries? There are those that can be charged in fifteen minutes (in special charger).

You can use them over and over.

Ordinary alkaline batteries like the Energizer (Max, etc) you are using, really are the worst type of battery to use because they don’t have much power in them to run a digital camera for very long.

A better option is to buy rechargeable AA NiMH batteries plus charger…however, these do drain when not used, so you will need to regularly charge them, especially if you haven’t used your camera in a while.

Or you can use non rechargeable Lithium AA batteries, like the Energizer Ultimate batteries. These will last up to 8x longer than your regular alkalines. They are quite expensive, however they do not drain like the others, when not used. They have a shelf life of up to 15 years! This would probably be the best type of battery for you (especially if you don’t use your camera all that often).

Many cameras today have MUCH better power management that others and I’d say that your little Kodak is probably one of ‘the others’.

To try and preserve battery power you should limit your use of the flash and also the LCD screen. The screen uses most of your battery power, so try to turn it off in-between shots and limit how long you spend reviewing your images/videos.

good luck…

I would suggest some low-discharge NiMHs. These are a special type of rechargeable battery that trade of a little bit juice… though they’ll still outlast your typical Alkaline in devices like a camera… in favor of retaining their charge much longer. That means you don’t have to worry about them going dead if you haven’t used them in a couple months, unlike regular NiMHs.

Now something that might get confusing at first is that different battery makers call these by different names, even though it’s all the same. I personally use Sanyo Eneloops. But Duracell Pre-charged and Rayovac Hybrid batteries work just as well.

I have a kodak digital camera and use the software that came with it to transfer pics from my camera and to edit them. I also use their gallery to share photos without having to email them. Does anyone know of a free online site that will let me do all these things. I really don’t like the kodak.

Picasa is a great one. It will transfer the pictures from the camera, allow you to set up galleries, edit the pictures, and soon upload them to a web-based gallery. http://www.picasa.com
