trust me! for that price if would be me I will certenly buy cannon powershot s3is or try cannon powershot s5is U can see reviews at those sites. both are 12x optical and above 6mpixel. the best thing for those two types of pro camera is that they works with four AA batteries. p.s dont mess with lumix panasonic of any type or digit. it’s not excellent stuff. trust me.

I agree with your friends. The Ixus 80 (SD1100 IS) will easily have better image quality.
Touch screens are just gimmicky, finger print magnets…

Got a new p/s Digital camera. Sony Coolpix S3000. It is so tiny compared to my Canon DSLR…..Will be nice for walks and to stick in pocket or purse.
seen by others on line everywhere fantastic detail is shown with fantastic clarity. I’m thinkiing of export another inexpensive camera with a 7.1 MP. Will this improve things for me or do I have to spend a lot to get these quality pictures?
Answer by darley
What you are looking for is information on “macro photography”.
Most digital cameras will have a setting to allow the focal range to be adjusted to allow for close up shots.
Getting more megapixels is not going to solve your conundrum.
Answer by fhotoace
Possibly.
Look for a camera that will allow you to shoot close ups with the camera. 7 mp should be fine, but as you get more and more pixels crammed into the tiny P&S sensor the quality can really suffer.

Try by the macro mode on your camera. This will make the camera focus on near objects (rather than far). Also check in the camera specifications under focusing range, then macro. This should give you the minimum and maximum distance you should be away from the object you are trying to photograph. Try moving a bit further away as this may help.
With the 7.1 MP camera, it depends how excellent the macro mode is on it. Equate the distances of the auto focus range (macro, in the specifications) of your 4.1 MP camera and the 7.1 MP camera. The less vital it is, the closer you can photograph.
