What is the BEST digital professional wedding photography camera right now?

I know everyone has a preference and it also depends on how one uses a camera but just technologically speaking, what is the top, most used digital camera right now by professional wedding photographers and possibly why?

I know Canon and Nikon are the most used, I am looking for an answer with a specific model. Like Nikon D3 or something like that. Something used by professional wedding photographers

Don’t judge a wedding handgun by the camera he/she uses. Judge by the portfolio.

See, there are people that can afford to buy “the best” gear, but have no clue as to how to use it.

Then there are the folks (including pro’s) that don’t have the current “best” gear, but can make what do have dance. These are the shooters you want.

Gear is gear… it’s what you can do with it that makes a difference. If you choose a photographer decently on the hardware, you’ll be disappointed.

The Nikon D3 has pretty much taken over a large part of the wedding photography business since its introduction. (The D3X is really a downgrade from the D3 in a wedding environment)

As a supplement, a lot of Nikon wedding photogs also carry a Fujifilm S5 Pro (a lesser-renowned specialty DSLR derived from the Nikon D200 body) for likeness shots due to its huge dynamic range and accurate skintones.

Medium format gear like the Hassels, while nice for the poses, is pretty much a waste of time for taking candids.

Personally, I use Canon 40D and 5DMkII. Its Canon V Nikon really (a bit like PC V Mac). Both will get the job done and it comes down to personal preference.

Though, more vital than the camera itself is:

1. The lenses. A poor quality lens on the best camera will result in a poor image.
2. The ability of the photographer. As stated, all the best gear in the world cant make a terrible photo a excellent one.

Which is better, Canon or Nikon?
(I know they’re both excellent).

I have a Canon and its fantastic. Also, it varies on the megapixels the higher the megapixels the better the quality.

Canon, they as I’ve told millions, the best digital camera company ever! My entire family owns only Canons. Not one family member as far as I know doesn’t have a Canon. My cousin is into photography and he says that the Powershot G7 is a fantastic digital camera! He owns one and I saw the pics it took and they were fantastic! My Canon takes fantastic pics too but it’s like 5 being ancient so Canon doesn’t sell it any more. The one I have is a Powershot.

BH Photo sells cameras cheap and sells some with kits. I also gave you the Canon site.

Both are fantastic. Canon has better reputation among the best paid photographers, Nikon among many, many prosumers.
Canon 20D or Rebel XTi are under $ 1000 and are fantastic.
you might even find a 30d under 1k, I am not sure.
I own a Canon 20d and a 5d.

I must say, do not pay attention to the: more megapixels-better comments. That is not accurate. Usually, on high end cameras, the better the lens, the best quality. Canon L-seres lenses are the best out there… but they cost a fortune. Sigmas EX are ok.

nikon is the best u really want to focuos on the type of lens the camera has because you do not what a plastic one u want glass i don’t know what the consumer reoprt says but u might look up nikon digital cameras on the nikon homepage and stuff which will be most helpful in my opinoion.
