what is the best digital camera for under $ 200? i have a very expensive Canon that I use for my photography, so I am now looking for an inexpensive camera that I can take anywhere with me. I would prefer it to be thin. Any suggestions?

Fantastic choice. Samsung makes one of the best digital cameras out there. I used to have a Sony, but i’ve had a Samsung camera for 3 months and it is far better than the Sony.
Go with Canon SL310. I found the best deal for the camera at:
http://www.dealjuggler.com/Samsung-SL310-13-Megapixel-Digital-Camera-3.6x-optical-zoom—Only-$ 137.94-with-free-shipping.html
I believe the sale is through buy.com.
Some fantastic features include:
- 13.6 megapixel
- 2.7 inch screen
- sleek, small, set alight weight
- Blink Detection technology
- Smile Shot feature
- 3.6x optical zoom
- Face Detection technology
- Recycle Bin Function (helps retrieve pictures if accidentally deleted)
It is trying to get these features in cameras in this price range. This one is $ 137.94 with free shipping.
Hope the above was helpful.

Do you really want to buy Samsung? I’ve never had excellent experiences with Samsung cameras. I’ve had large shutter lag and cameras eating batteries. Samsung quality has dropped in the past few being in general as well, they peaked around 2006 and have been in a down path since.
The only Samsung cameras I’d go for are the NV series with the Schneider lens, here is a refer to from http://www.dpreview.com/reviews/samsungnv7/
“Samsung announced a new series of cameras, the NV (New Vision) range that finally, firmly place the ‘cheap n cheerful’ plastic camera image behind them”
Even so people aren’t really convinced, though I can vouch for the Schneider in my Kodak Z650. And logically a company wouldn’t let their reputation to be hurt, so the lens must satisfy their standards. http://forums.dpreview.com/forums/read.asp?forum=1001&message=30714108&q=samsung+schneider&qf=m
All of the NV cameras are priced between £90-£200, so doubtless starting around $ 150. Just do not get the NV4.

Otherwise I would recommend a Canon or Nikon

Just place it this way, Canon and Nikon have been in the Camera Industry for more than 60 being (founded 1947, 1946 respectively), they’ve been providing equipment for pro’s from then on, so really have the experience. Remember that you are export an optical device, buy on lens quality!
