What is the best digital camera for quality?

I’m just wanting to know what the best digital camera is that has the best show and quality.

Most D-SLR’s are your best option when talking about quality of photo taken. No, Canon and Sony aren’t the best. They are excellent but people are forgetting about Nikon. Personally I prefer Nikon but you can’t go incorrect with another brand either. Main brands are Nikon, Canon, Olympus, and Sony. The only model I advise against is any Canon Rebel (simple characteristic to avoid is they’re usually silver plastic instead of the common black).

If you don’t want to spend a huge quantity of money, then you want to go with the digital point & shoots. Small, cheap, and will do the trick quite well. My recommendation is getting a Canon or Olympus brand. They are the most reliable without spending a whole lot. Whatever you do do not buy Kodak. From being of experience working on all kinds/brands of cameras, I highly advise against export Kodak. Yes, they are cheap but I assure you, you are getting what you pay for, if not less. They like to fail for no particular reason and quality is very low.

All in all you really just need to look out for what the Mega Pixel count is on the camera. The higher the MP count, the higher quality of photo you will get. Lenses factor in mostly with just SLR models but that’s a whole other theme.

It’s hard to generalize based on brand since each brand has excellent and terrible models. But typically nikon, and canon are the best (usually like I said). My dad is huge into photography and uses DSLRs (the huge ones with huge lenses) and also point-and-shoots (pocket sized digital cameras)

He buys new cameras nearly weekly just to try them out and equate quality. The one he keeps with him on a daily basis for everyday shooting is the Canon Powershot SD780IS 12.1 MP. The image quality is fantastic, even in low set alight which is rare in a compact point and shoot camera.

I’m going backpacking in Europe this summer and want to buy a new digital camera for my trip. I’m looking for a point and shoot competent of taking crisp, colorful outdoor pictures (ideally over 7mp and 3x zoom). Also, I’d like the camera to use regular batteries, since I won’t be able to bring a charger for a lithium battery.
Any suggestions before I venture into Best Buy?

You really need to do your homework on this and look at what MM the lens is, 14 to about 20mm is excellent for landscape photos. Make sure its a excellent brand such as Canon, Nikon etc so you know you are getting a excellent lens. A camera even at a high megapixel is as only as excellent as its lens. Each camera should have the zoom printed on the from such as 12mm to 85mm as an example.

3x tell me that you are looking for a point and shoot compact camera with the widest angle available on the small end..

I just returned from sailing for nine and a half weeks in the Caribbean and needed a wide angle lens for the landscapes and while sailing. I would not have been able to shoot the gorgeous islands had I taken a point and shoot camera. The extra few pounds the D100 camera, two lenses and accessories (battery charger and extra memory cards) was well worth it. I was able to charge the Li-Ion batteries by the solar panels on the sailing vessel. Li-Ion batteries have incredible lasting power. I only had to charge them twice during the whole trip (over 8GB of photos)

Back to your challenge. First of all, regular AA batteries do not last long. Most of the point and shoot cameras are designed to use rechargeable NiMH AA’s which last up to 4 times longer. If you get a camera with a viewfinder and refrain from by the LCD the batteries will last longer. The auto-focus and sparkle also eat up energy.

There are some compact digital cameras that will accept axillary lenses. If you can find a camera which has a wide angle add-on lens, that will solve your landscape challenge.

I reckon I have given you some tools to help you find the camera which will best fit your needs.
