(if possible) . but the first question would be is it competent of being hooked up to a computer 9and how)?? thank-you!

I connect my Hi8 HandyCam to the computer with the EZMaker USB 2.0 device. The video and audio plug into the device, and the leads from the device plug into the USB and soundcard. Then you are ready to go.
My model HandyCam has a removable rubber seal covering the ports on the camera for the video and audio output. Possibly yours has this, too. GOOD LUCK!

Basically, you need a capture deck, like Solly uses. To answer your question, you cant really connect your camera directly to your computer, because it’s analog. Get a capture deck, like Solly said, and your camera should have composite video ports and/or an S-video port. If you have S-video, use that (but make sure the converter supports S-video as well), or if not, just use composite. Plug in the cables into the converter and follow the instructions. Hope this helps!

The Sony PMW-EX1 XDCAM EX camcorder records onto Sony SxS PRO memory cards. The camera features a 14x zoom lens, full HD resolution (1920 x 1080) 3-1/2-inch CMOS HD sensor, MPEG-2 Long GOP 35 Mb/s VBR HQ recording mode, and the ability to record 30P and 24P. The camera also has a slow shutter mode and can do time-lapse. Read my first impressions of the camera here: kino-eye.com/2008/07/04/sony-pmw-ex1/
I have a mac firewire 400 cable that i was able to capture video on my mom’s imac no conundrum by imovie. I have a new macbook pro 15 inch and i got a converter from 9 pin to the firewire 400 which then goes 4 pin into my sony camcorder. When I go to imovie, I can’t see the camera to import video. Is there a setting I need to do?

Is the Firewire port enabled?
Dock: System Preferences: Network: … sorry – doing this from memory – there are two drop-downs it is the lower of the two… basically, it opens a window that lists all the network poerts and whether they are enabled (with a check mark) or not. There needs to be a checkmark in the Firewire box…
If the port is enabled, it *could* be the converter. I’ve been by a Belkin 4-pin to 9-pin cable that works fantastic.
