Difference in 12 mega pixels versus 15 mega pixels?
Is this difference very noticeable because it’s a contributing factor in my pronouncement on a new digital camera. Either Canon EOS Rebel T1i or Panasonic Lumix DMC-GH1K. Im by it for both high quality video recording and photography (mainly macro, likeness, and landscape).

15 megapixels is better quality.

Mega pixel is not a main factor,12mp and 15mp does not make huge difference. Though if you want one for video I would recommend Canon T1i
Answer by Jannet, Pablo if ya’ nasty.
Megapixels have to do with the size of the image. Like when people tweet pics from their 1 mp phone, the thing is 1″ X1.5″ on the computer screen and you can’t see anything. But if you’ve ever blown up a 10mp file to real size it’s possibly 15″X12″ crosswise your screen.
A few being ago when the best cameras only had 1 or 3 megapixels then it was vital. Back then the pictures were just too small to see. Now that 10mp is normal, megapixels don’t matter. 15, 24, 60 megapixels is just going to take up space on your camera and computer.

I am looking to get either Digital Rebel XT (350D) or 20D, both in the Canon EOS series of dSLR cameras. What are the huge differences that make the 20D cost 500 dollars more than the 350D?
I know the 20D shoots up to 5 FPS compared to the 350D’s 3FPS. Plus the 20D’s times for shutter lag is about .04 less than the 350′s .1 of a second. Also the magnesium alloy body versus the plastic body.
Anything else that you know about?

20D has a quicker shutter speed

Its more than just shutter speed. The XT is made for consumer camera users, you will basically get all of the “dummy” modes such as Landscape, Nightime, likeness, AUTO Mode etc. When you go with the 20D, 5D etc etc you are export a more professional grade camera. A much better body, the XT being plastic and the 20D being metal. Other things to look for is ISO range, the list can go on but I would get the 20D if you plot to do this more as a profession.

* the better build quality extends to the shutter life: the 20D is rated for 100,000 actuations vs. 50,000 for the 350D (some sources place them both at around 60,000 though)
* quicker and more accurate autofocus
* deeper buffer: 26 jpgs on the D20 vs. 14 on the D350
* slightly larger and brighter viewfinder
* average of 1,000 shots per charge vs. 600 for the D350
* ease of use (extra joystick and dial vs. a 4-way pad)
… with the things you aleready mentioned, thats’s a pretty impressive list.
I’m a Nikon guy for myself and earlier this year I had a similar dilemma with the D70 vs. the D200. In anticipation of I held both cameras side by side and looked through the viewfinders. After that, the D200 was a no brainer. I suggest you do the same with the 20D and the 350D – the viewfinder and handeling are perhaps the most vital features. You can doubtless get really fantastic deals on the 20D too, now that the 30D is out.
