Are there any other professional editors like sony vegas?

It must have a free trial of at least 20 days, and it has to be simple to use.
And one of the really excellent ones, i don’t want windows movie maker crap..

Pro apps are not simple to use. There are apps between Movie Maker and pro apps. Look at Premiere Elements, Pinnacle Studio, Vegas has numerous that are not Vegas pro. These are all decent apps. Equate to Adobe Premiere pro. You can get a trial at Adobe.com

I have a canon g11, would the Sony α55 DSLR Camera be an upgrade?

No camera is “professional” – its the photographer who is the professional and uses the tool (the camera) to do the job.

The Sony SLT A55 would be a tremendous upgrade from the Canon G11 although the G11 is a excellent camera. With the A55 you’ll gain interchangeable lenses and a much, much larger sensor. Plus the A55 allows full-time continuous auto focus whether you’re shooting still pictures or video.

Buy the Sony SLT A55 but keep the G11 for those times when you prefer to travel set alight.
