I'm going to Europe for 2 weeks, I have a Flip camera which I have to download during the trip. Best way?
I don’t reckon I want to haul a mainframe with me. I do have an older Sony tape record camera, but its bulky. A digital camera is simple..just bring cards.

Is someone you know bringing a mainframe? Use theirs?
Vlogging is incredible.
If not, it DOES hold 2 hours of record, just be conservative.

If you’re staying in hostels, most of them will have computers for travellers’ use for a small cost. There are always internet cafés as well…
What do you reckon? Answer below!
I do not have the cd and when I connect my camera it is not recognized by the computer.

You need hardware and software. You don’t need the Sony CD.
The software is the simple part. MovieMaker is bundled with Windows; iMovieHD is bundled with Macintosh.
Hardware can be a bit of an issue on the traditional Windows hardware side – you need a firewire 400 port. Firewire, IEEE1394a, DV and i.LINK are all the same business – you will connect the firewire cable to the DV port of the camcorder and the firewire port of the computer – USB won’t work. Launch the record editor and Import or capture the record (the camcorder needs to be in Play or VCR mode). Apple Macintosh computers have had a firewire port standard for about ten years, so all you need is a 4-pin to 6-pin firewire cable.
If your computer does not have a firewire port, hopefully it has an available extension slot so you can add one. A USB-firewire adapter/converter won’t work.

You can get free software from StashSpace.com for recording record directly onto your computer. You just need a firewire cable to connect your camera to your computer. (USB should work too but firewire has a nearer data transfer rate). Check out the app from stashspace at http://www.stashspace.com you can then share record and upload for remote storage or burn dvds with the software. Very simple to use.
