How can I transfer video from my old Video Camera that uses small Tapes to DVD?(It's not a Digital VidCamera)

I have an ancient record camera that has small VHS tapes. Is there a way I can transfer them to my computer and burn them onto a DVD. I don’t reckon there’s really a way to hook it to the computer, because it’s not a Digital Record Camera.

You need an “analog/digital join” like

Connect the camcorder to the A/D join with the AV cable that came with the camcorder. Connect the A/D join to your computer’s USB port. Import.

If your computer has a firewire port, better to use

Or, if you get a new camcorder, you can find one that has “analog pass through” and it would act as the A/D join…

We had none a small time ago, then one and new a whole of 4 for school use

We are interested in buying a record camera. I would also like to just have one camera to do record and also take still pictures. Which is better for our situation a camera that records it onto DVD or a digital one?

I reckon that the Digital Record Cameras, as the ones with MiniDV as the recorder device, are the best. One: minidv are cheaper and more trustables than the dvds. Second: it is nearer that u download the minidv data from your camcorder to your pc, instead of from your DVD camera to your pc. A cassette is simpler to read than a dvd. Third: MInidv Cameras are smallers and come with more functions like slow motion rec, and allows you to record a high quality still image. Remember, once you end to record a dvd, you need to burn it (like when you full close an audio cd from Nero) to play it on your standar dvd player.

.it all really depends on whether you want to edit or not..dvd is a much highter compression than mini dv.the same goes for the hard drive cameras..if you just want to record and then watch then dvd and hard drive is fine..if you want to edit then get mini dv.
