Dark and blurry images with my Nikon Coolpix S210 camera?

I have been through their troubleshooting section but I’m still getting very dark images when taking daylight pictures, and very blurry ones with the night background. I end up having to Photoshop all the daylight ones, and most of the night ones I just end up deleting because they’re beyond help. Thoughts?

Very dark images says that the daylight pictures are life underexposed. It would be underexposed if the metering system was broken, or if you have some background incorrect. One business that might cause it is if you have the exposure compensation set incorrect. See page 32 of your manual.

For the blurring. Have you tried the “High Sensitivity Mode”? It’s described on page 33 of your manual. A cause of blurring in night pictures is that the camera moves while the shutter is open and the shutter stays open much longer at night so that the camera can get enough light. Stop that blurring by holding the camera still longer, any by not moving the camera yourself or putting it on a tripod.

I’ve been trying to do this for a few days now. I first tried to map it out on my own, then referred to the user’s manual. The manual gave no help: it merely indicates that a certain symbol earnings that the option is turned on. I need to know how to turn this on and off… 10 points for help thanks!

Are you really sure you want an hideous time stamp on your photos?

Do you realize that every camera records the EXIF info along with every photo? There are many ways of looking up that information, so you’ll always know the date/time and many more things, anyway.

If you really need to show the date on the actual photo, you may maybe always add it as text in post processing later, but it is harder to make that hideous stamp disappear.
