First of all if you are going to spend only $ 350 i would advise you to buy a digital camera because none SLR that has good demand is at that price. If you want a portable Camera i amy suggest you a digital one or a DSRL that’s very compact. What makes a SLR are the lenses so I suggest you to earn more money before considering buying one. But… Off course.. CANON EOS SLR are a lot better! Not only because of their image quality but because of their creative modes and all the other new things you can do with them. Live view is one of the most important aspects on them. If you had a little more money i will definitely advise you to buy one EOS.
You were told good, Cannon EOS are extremely fun, useful and amazing!

How about Canon EOS digital SLR?
That would be the best of both worlds!
I suspect you’re asking whether to get film SLR or digital p&s?
If you get a film SLR, you’ll have a great camera, but all the disadvantages of shooting film, included extra material and development costs, no instant feedback, quantity limitation, risk to expose, etc, etc. On the other hand, good quality film (expensive) will probably edge the digital in performance and quality.
On the other hand digital p&s will have all perks of digital, but you lose the super advantages of an SLR, including huge sensor and excellent lenses, which means quality, faster operation, more flexibility, etc.
So, it’s really a hard choice. Only you would know how you make the trade quality vs convenience… It’s better to save up and get a digital SLR, or to consider a used one to fit your budget. That’s what I would do..

I would suggest Panasonic Lumix DMC-FZ35 12.1MP Digital Camera with 18x POWER Optical Image Stabilized Zoom and 2.7 inch LCD

The front of my new Canon Digital Rebel XTI.
I am thinking about changing from my Canon Digital Camera, to a Digital SLR camera, for beginners, what camera should i purchase and why?
thanks!
Answer by jacobplano
Well since you already own a Canon, I’d recommend getting a Canon SLR Camera. Why? Because it’s best in market, and you already know some of the interface since you already owned a Canon camera. Also Nikon is quite nice, but not as good as Canon, oh and Olympus. Stick with those three brands.

In my opinion a fairly simple yet very precise DSLR is the Nikon D3000. It is a fairly new camera, it has multiple help features to help show you how to adjust all the settings. For a good starter DSLR the nikon d3000 is a great camera, i am currently shooting with one myself being my other is being serviced. If you are curios about the quality of photos it takes feel free to contact me and i can email some of the photos ive personally taken with the d3000

You and I are in the same boat..I have been using a Canon point and shoot for the last three years and am now thinking of upgrading to a DSLR. Of course it has to be Canon for me as I’m used to the interface now. I am definitely going to buy the latest rebel t2i as it’s the most feature-packed of all Canon’s entry-level DSLRs. One of the best entry-level DSLR cameras available is the Pentax K-x. Read this review and see what you think: http://www.imaging-resource.com/PRODS/KX/KXA.HTM
Another excellent entry-level DSLR is the Sony A330. Read this review:
