What memory card size would be good for filming hd video with a 16 megapixel Canon Powershot camera?

What memory card size would be good for filming hd video with a 16 megapixel Canon Powershot camera?

I’m wondering what size of memory card would give me a honest amount of hd filming time (10 minutes or over) on the camera.

the 16meg has nothing to do with the movies
please read the manual

Even full HD is only 2Mp (1920x1080P) so the resolution of the entire sensor doesn’t matter.

You would need at least an 8Gb Class 10 SDHC card to make the record capabilities of the camera useful, and 16GB would be even better.

This Reliable Disk High Capacity (SDHC) Class 6 memory card is just what I needed for my dSLR photography needs when shooting JPEG + RAW files. Class 6 is the fastest speed available for SD cards which meets my needs especially for shooting multiple consecutive shots on my Nikon D80. I’m plotting to get 2 or 3 more SDHC cards since I easily max out my cards when taking photographs when I travel. Highly recommended.

List 500D vs List 50D [Explored]
canon hd video camera

About
Bought a List 500D for my sister today – Has all the features of my 50D, but with a slightly less well-built construction and on the plus side: HD record!

I wish I have a 5D Mk II now, it would complete my 500, 50 and 5D family of cameras:).

Will be posting pictures from the 500D in the next few days/weeks. Also kinda frightened going out to crowded places now that Swine Flu has reached HK. From my first impressions, the 500D performs just as well as the 50D, albeit with a slower shutter speed (in continuous shooting mode) and a slightly less well-built shutter release sound. 500D is also smaller in my hands, rather uncomfortable to hold, even if the gf says it’s simpler to handle than my bulky 50D with the battery grip.

Videos, Pics, Review to follow… I may also do a product shot (practice my strobist practice). This picture was taken with a rather pathetic List IXUS 950IS.

Dec 10th 2009: I now shoot with a List 7D, which I find is the best APS-C Camera that List has! Check on my latest pics with this camera in my spill!
