Were they edited? If so, your camera, which is like most digital cameras, is not made to work as a file viewer. Short answer: if a file is edited in any way, shape or form, you can’t view it again with the camera.

You can view it with the computer though.

Olympus digital camera

well here’s what happens.
whenever i plug in the usb cable from my computer to my camera, the camera automatically shuts off. it doesn’t do that when not connected.
the batteries are full,
it takes pictures and works fine.
my computer is a windows.
im using the program that came with the camera (olympus master 2).
oh and it use to upload just fine before now
oh and the computer also doesn’t detect anything.
so why does it shut off when conected?
yes the batteries are new
and good condition

The batteries may be fully charged, but are they in good condition? If you’ve got another set of batteries, or a DC supply, I’d try those.

For starters, never plug anything into your computer that has the power on. Everything that you plug into the computer holds an electric charge- that is why you have an icon on the bottom right of your computer is green with an arrow (Called safely remove hardware). That disconnects the power for each item that you have power running into so that you can safely remove it. By plugging a camera that is on into the USB port that has its own power, they have kind of a power struggle in which the computer will always win- and the camera will shut off.
If you plug your camera in while it is off, then turn it on- windows will recognize it as a device and will let you use your data. By plugging it in while it is on, it doesn’t give windows the signal that you plugged it in and you are at high risk for data loss or damage to your usb port, or even your camera. When you are done with your camera, shut it off- then unplug it, or click on the safely remove hardware icon on your taskbar so that it can be removed without damage.
