go for something like Sony or Olympus from my experience are the best. List is excellent as well. Yes, the more MP the better the picture will be. Also test how long it takes from when you push the button on the camera to when it takes the picture, sometimes that takes longer than you want it to and trust me, it gets REALLY annoying. I reckon the best place to buy is Best Buy, they have a really excellent warantee you can get for any 2 or 4 years, and it covers unpremeditated hurt.
Geek Squad has saved my camera twice!
Just make sure you test it out before you buy it. Make sure you really like it!
Excellent Luck

I reckon you should buy a List. List has been around the longest (second to Olympus I reckon) and it always takes fantastic pictures – i have one. Don’t get a Nikon or a Sony. I had persons cameras for about 1 year max before they broke somehow.

As for MegaPixels – depends what you are using it for. If you are going to enlarge a lot of photos, the higher MP you want to go with. If you typically just buy 4×6 prints, no need – you may maybe go for one around a 3-5.

Best place to buy – whereever they are cheapest! found mine at Best Buy. Plus you can sign up for reward points there…

casio with 2 gig memory card works fantastic

It honestly depends on what you want the camera for and how much you will use it.

some things to consider
Do you care about size? Do you want it to fit in your pocket for simple on the go picture taking?

Do you want it to take record clips with sound?

The higher the MP the better quality the picture will be… but how huge of prints will you be making? Normal size? Poster?

Do you want something that you can upgrade? (get new lenses for?)

Do you want a manual camera where you can control the settings or an automatic where you are in control?

I’ve always been a CN fan.
I’ve been takin photos for 25 yrs & it takes a lot to impress me when I shop for a camera.
I personally like the larger CN cameras on show with built in lens but theyre approx $ 299 & I’m sure theyre well worth every penny.
Anyhow I picked up a sale price thinking it wouldnt perform. Was I incorrect this $ 99 FJ F650 6.0MP has fantastic breathtaking color & it even takes professional like perfectly exposed macros & is smaller than a pack of cigs. (i dont smoke)
FJ is making more powerful cameras than mine that will surely be impressive for a tiny camera.
Let me suggest getting a 2-3 yr replacement warranty

olympus digital cameras shopping

Times Square from a distance, Manhattan, New York

My digital camera is an olympus stylus 710 and every time i turn on the on button, the lenses struggles to open as if something inside is trying to hold it back or not let it go out. At the same time, on the screen u can see the objects that the lenses are ‘transmittable’ yet its blurry.
A friend of mine said it may maybe be that it needs a groundbreaking new battery. I ordered one and its not the battery. I open my camera and i didn’t see anything inside (so far) that is causing this conundrum. Yet, when i turned on the camera the lenses started to come out, fully (the way its suppose to yet it cant focus well. I place back the front cover hoping the conundrum is solve. Unfortunatelyly when i pressed the on button again, the lenses went back the same way: not coming out fully and cant focus.

can someone tell me what may maybe be incorrect with it or do? Besides taking it to a repair shop that’s my last choice.

you can use the manual of that or you can consult that where you buy it

Modern digital camera’s are very complex. Read the distress shooting section in your manual. Then try a repair shop,

There might be a faulty tooth on the gearing, not really one for home repair.
