Can someone tell me how to recover 2 cameras left on an Aloha Airlines plane?

2 Cameras left on Jan. 22, 2008 aboard Aloha Airlines flight # 4915. The flight was from Maui to Oahu. 1 camera was a Sony cam corder, and the additional an Olympus digital camera. Both were in a Sony carrying case.

Answer by Matthew M
Contact the airline. If someone turned the cameras in then they are at whatever airport they were turned in to.

Excellent luck.

Contact the Airline at 1 (800) 367-5250. Question if they have a lost and found number at Oahu. Hopefully someone turned them. Flight cleaning crews are sometimes known for pocketing left items.

Olympus PT-018 housing (front view) #444

Sea & Sea external strobe (slave operation, not cable)

On July 25, the camera and the housing went back into the shop—for the fourth time in just under a year—because the shutter frequently refuses to fire at depths greater than 5 m.

In order to question my question, first I have to share small information. I have 12 – 15 year ancient Olympus OM professional camera. It is in very excellent condition but one business of the shutter. The shutter need to be replaced, but I have this conundrum before and it is very inexpensive, non-invasive fix. Also built-in with the Olympus OM are the later piece: another lens attachment, a detachable/attachable flash attachment, and removable lens cap (to fit any lens). Camera is also in very nice Tamarac case and include ALL of the first operating manual for each piece (one for each lens), warranty cards, etc. Camera is very well taken care of for so long of 15 year, and additional than shutter (and it may maybe do with excellent cleaning) it is in fantastic condition. So, that is social class information.
So… on to question :) )

This is question: Originally this was very expensive, top-of-the-line camera. I know that shutter needs replacing, but I have conveyed this to friend who will be receiving it. I have just act like it is something another friend have and just act as if that person is charitable it as gift to a friend of mine she does not know (because they not exist haha!!). If you cannot tell I am very excite to give this to dear friend, but hope is excellent gift first :D
This is going to be for DEAREST friend in Hong Kong (I am in US far away) and I plot to send this to her for Christmas. She is aspiring photographer (as leisure activity only) and when I mention Olympus she is very pleased! She not know my plans, as I say I am pretending to talk about additional person to her so I can get information from her. She say she wish she may maybe have it when I mention it, but I want to make sure it is will be something she can use and be pleased with. I don’t want it to be “dud”. Making sense??

So… I want to know if any photographer here reckon this will be excellent gift for her. Of course she is WONDERFUL girl (like sister to me) would be pleased with anything I send, but I want make her VERY pleased :) ) She has only run-of-mill digital camera now and is talking often of wanting profession grade camera. So, for ANYONE who has like of photography, knowledge of camera Olympus OM, and maybe even experience with photography – may maybe you please to tell me if this is gift that you want to receive if you were my friend. Jeannie (my darling friend that I talk of) does not have money for these business and she struggle to raise a family alone in Hong Kong. I just want to send something nice for HER and only to use for her. She deserve this more than anyone I am knowing. I am going to do light brisk cleaning, but am leaving the majority to her because I know after 10/15 years it needs excellent cleaning by someone who knows what really need to be cleaned. Also I know how she is as person, and this would make her pleased to clean – she take such pride in her business; which are so nice :) ) She is best friend of me and deserve this very very much if it will be excellent camera for her :) )

So PLEASE tell me if there are to be ANY aspiring/accomplished photographers on this Yahoo Answer (who know what it is like to work with limited funds): Would you like to be receiving this camera as gift be excellent gift for you if you were in her position?? Please be honest I not have “thin skin” :D

Thank you very much for any input; it is greatly be grateful for!!!!!!!

Please no sarcasm; I am looking for honest answer only.

Sincere Regard,

Guilianna
Photo & Willis I am thanking you reasonably much for answers. I be grateful for much. Conundrum is I have no money to make hold of new camera. I talk to lady at Krums Photography – camera place close to where I am live, and she say is $ 50 to fix shutter again. Unfortunate I am raise family with small money so this is best I do for friend. That is why I question is present excellent. I am reckon is not excellent present so will send something else like a piece jewelry I have to make friend pleased for Christmas gift. I hoping (?) that camera would be excellent gift and I reckon from you answers is not excellent gift and would cost friend much to money she cannot afford to do.
So I reckon I am should result some additional gift. What reckon you?? Should I just be pleased and find additional gift?? I take camera to Krums tomorrow to see if $ 50 is right amount to fix shutter like lady say it will be. If I cannot fix shutter should I send to friend anyway?? Should I just get new gift?? I so confused what to do???????????

Answer by fhotoace
Since the heart of a camera is its shutter and can cost from $ 250 to $ 400 (much more than the camera is worth) it may be that you may maybe find a excellent used OM camera for $ 100 and give it and the lenses to her.
