Anyone have an Olympus digital camera?

Anyone have an Olympus digital camera?

I’ve owned two different Olympus cameras now and both times have had trouble with battery life. I’ll put in a brand new pair of batteries and within an unreasonable amount of time the camera tells me the battery is dead and turns off. I’ve tried different brands of batteries and still no luck. What gives? Anyone else have this problem?

Answer by heavy_cow
I own two olympus digital cameras, and have no problems with battery life, using AA batteries will always have a short life span, it’s best to get a camera with the li-ion rechargable batteries.

I’m on my second Olympus also, and there are several issues to content with any digital camera. If you mainly use the camera indoors, the constant firing of the flash will help to kill the batteries. Also remember that using the optical zoom function often, will do likewise. Lastly, leaving the LCD monitor on for long periods will shorten the fun. Answer -go to Target or Walmart and buy rechargeable AA’s for $ 20. This has nothing to do with Olympus.

Digital cameras require battery power to operate…and using the flash, zoom and LCD uses a lot of power. Ordinary alkaline batteries are useless because they just don’t have enough power in them to operate a camera for very long at all…that’s why it’s a waste of money to use them.

Instead, you should use rechargeable NiMH batteries (2500mAh or higher) plus a charger…or buy non rechargeable lithium batteries, such as Energizer e2 Lithium…which run for much longer that an ordinary battery.

When I plug the USB Cable in it only shows the pictures I can import but not the video I want to. Im positive the video is in the camera memory to. Thanks

If you have Windows, when you plug in the cord connected to the camera, a window with options should come up, saying something like “What do you want to do with these files?” and there should be options, vertically listed. You should be able to choose to download everything using the Camera Wizard. The movie file should download with everything else. If not, try more options. I hope this helped – I have an Olympus SLR myself :)

If the wizard does not come up, then go to My Computer. The USB connection should appear as a “Removeable Drive”. Open the drive and one or two folders down should be your Jpeg pictures. Switch to icon view, the movies will have a different icon from the pictures. highligh and move to a folder that is on your C drive such as “my movies”
