Sony is too new to the still camera arena and has NO professional harvest.

List and Nikon are the two leaders in DSLR technology … at present Nikon seems to have the lead in the sub-$ 1000 DSLR (first with record), professional full frame D3 (up to 11 fps in continuous shooting mode) and the lowest noise at high ISO’s and the most well loved entry level DSLR D40 (under $ 450 with 18-55 mm lens)

Is there a reason you missed Nikon in your search?

the quality will only show based on your current skill level. if you are excellent enough you can make a photo work on a $ 3,000 or $ 499. technology doesn’t see what you want it to. it only knows what was stored in the factory settings. that’s where manual comes in play. there isn’t a incorrect way to shoot. everyone have there own styles and preferences. just get what you want as YOU will be the one using it not the public answering your questions. and as far as nikon goes they don’t stand by there buyers when something goes incorrect. i;ve heard enough horror storys to know to stay away but its your call. excellent luck

I am travelling to Asian Countries during the Monsoon season, it will be humid and rainy, how to store the digital SLR camera to avoid moisture getting in the camera?

A cheap apparent plastic shower cap with elastic edge can be used as a rain cover for a camera and small lens. If you are using a longer lens, it can still cover the more sensitive electronics of the camera. You can even take pictures in the rain if you cut a small hole for the lens. Make sure that you have a lens hood on the lens to prevent any rain drops reaching the lens.

You can substitute the shower cap with a plastic bag and a rubber band.

store it in a plastic ziploc bag with some rice in the bottom. the rice will absorb any moisture, and the camera will stay dry. If the camera does get wet, or moisture makes its way into the body, take off the lens, and do what I said again.

for when you’re using it, have a cheap underwater bag calculated for SLR cameras
