Why can the Sony TX5 waterproof camera only be under water for 60 minutes?

I received my Sony TX5 digital camera now and I noticed it said it can only be under water for a maximum of 60 minutes, can anything happen to it if it is under water for a longer time?
Also I ordered the red one, which I’m very disappointed to find out it’s more pink then red. I’m going on a cruise in just a few days so there isn’t much time to return it and get another in time before we board and set off for sail.

That’s a guide as to how long the water seals of the camera can withstand pressure. Water pressure is quite a force when you’re under water. The manufacturer can only guarantee the camera to work while submerging within their recommended depths and time limit. I suggest you follow those explicitly.

Stick with the pink one. If someone questions, say it’s your sister’s. By experience, I find that pink cameras illicit smiles from anyone you point it to. Even strangers pose involuntarily when you hold it up to take a shot. I know. My wife has one.
