Which is the best deal for a digital camera?

Which is the best deal for a digital camera?

I am looking to buy a digicam for thanksgiving for for myself. Based on my needs, I estimate I would need a 5 MP camera with a memory of about 256MB. There are numerous products flooding the promote and I am confused on which one to choose and from everywhere to buy. Should I go for a Canon or a Samsung or a Panasonic?
Should I base my choice on the cost only as all the brands have various prices with the same specs?
Also which would be the best house to buy one? CircuitCity or Walmart or Office Depot or Target? (these are the only seats reachable to me).
Pleasse help me out b4 Black Friday.

Consumer Reports for November 2006 has ranked the Canon Powershot A620 as the best compact digital camera. It is becoming nearly a legend for endurance at the top of various consumer lists. It looks like this model has been replaced by the A630, which I would expect to be just as standard. The A640 appears quite similar and shares the “600″ series numbering, so I estimate it’s just another upgraded version of the now-classic A620. It looks pretty much the same except for being a 10 MP camera.

I own a few Nikon DSLR’s and I’d buy the Canon A630 or A640 for for myself.

The A620 was rated about twice as excellent as any as far a battery life. I hope the A630 and A640 are just as excellent. Use Energizer e2 LITHIUM batteries and you will be pleased with battery life.

With this camera, you will find the memory card is a cute small token of thanks from Canon, but not much more. Buy a 1 GB Sandisk Ultra II or Extreme III card. You will NEED the increased capacity and write speed to fully realize the benefits of your camera.

If you want to trim the budget a small, the Canon Powershot A430, A530 or A540, are all fantastic choices. You will need a decent memory card, though. I’d say get at least 512 MB.

With digital camera prices falling, you can pick up a decent camera for a excellent price. You should steer clear of proprietory batteries because they are usually expensive to replace and as time goes on the company eventually discontinues making them. Go with cameras that use AA Nimh batteries, because they are cheaper to replace and always available.

I reckon any type of brand name camera is a excellent choice. Try it out and see if it feels comfortable. You might want to consider a memory card larger than 256. With Memory cards also dropping a 2GB card looks more promising.

You might want to buy at a store everywhere they offer extended warranty. You might not ever need it, but it’s nice to have and not need it than need it and not have it. (Did that make any sense?)

What do you reckon? Answer below!

I’m not a professional photographer and quite honestly I don’t know that much about cameras.. But I do know that I know when I like a picture. I have the Nikon Coolpix P6000 and I reckon it’s AMAZING! The quality of the pictures are incredible, the colors are so rich. I can manipulate the speed of the shutter and the ISO. That’s all I really need, in terms of playing with the settings..

Well whatever you choose I would DEFINITELY go for a Nikon (and from the ones you recommended it would either be the D60 or P80- the higher the MP the better and clearer the picture!)

Excellent luck!

If you want truly professional images, get a film slr. No digital camera, by far, has been able to faithfully breed colours the way it is has been on film for decades. Film also offers the advantage of charitable more dynamic range, charitable you more detail in both highlights and shadows. The downside is that film is not reusable, and you’ll be paying money to have your pictures proccessed.

Any camera can make professional images. It all really depends on the photographer. This article exaggerates my point: http://www.kenrockwell.com/tech/25-vs-5000-camera.htm

Finally, to answer your question, all the cameras you listed will give you fantastic results at low isos. If low-set alight photography is your thing, then avoid the Nikon P80 altogether. The remaining cameras perform very similar, though, Nikon dslrs are renowned for being simpler to use for a beginner and having superior plastic bodies but loses out to the XS in terms of resolution.

Here is a side-by-side comparison with all 4 cameras, with reviews for each except for the P80: http://www.dpreview.com/reviews/compare_post.asp?method=sidebyside&cameras=canon_eos1000d%2Cnikon_d40%2Cnikon_d60%2Cnikon_cpp80&show=all

So just get a excellent DSLR then if you are attracted in photography.By DSLR and getting the pro results may take time for a person who has no experince. But after you learn some and gain experience, you will be pleased and will have a excellent leisure activity that you can not leave…D60 and XS preferred for beginners.(D40 is not excellent anymore because it’s slow and dynamic range is no excellent)If you like vivid over saturated colors,D60 is the one for you. Some people nag about it’s over saturated colors but i like it.And Canon rebel one is also perfect for a beginner. As you gain experience,i would go for a full frame DSLR which real PRO guys use…
