What's the best digital camera under $500?
I’m looking for a digital camera that’s preferably between $ 200 and $ 400 but if quality is at stake, up to $ 500. Wanting 8.0 mega pixels or more, with zoom. I’ll be by it to take outdoor likeness and action photography, as well as indoor usual (b-day parties…unsystematic pics…etc), and evening class reunion (so hall lighting). I’ve already checked CNet and Consumer Reports, I’m just looking for personal preferences. Picture clarity is prime, as well as color balance…I can edit the images on my computer but prefer to not have to.

I’ve had a Canon A620 for a couple of being, and it’s been terrific. I don’t believe that it’s made any more, but it has a bunch of successors in your price range. Simple to use, brilliant image quality, excellent flexibility.
If you want to splurge, you might reckon about a low-end digital SLR. For example, I believe that the Pentax K100D has dropped to around $ 500, now that the K10D has been introduced.

Consider my Sony Cybershot DSC-H2. No it doesn’t have 8 megapixels, but it does have 6 and takes brilliant 8X10s. Lots of zoom at 12X optical zoom, has image stabilizer, very excellent on batteries. Comes with batteries and charger, can set shutter speed, or gap or leave on auto. But if you checked out Consumer Reports it’s in there. I like it. Abe’s of Maine promotion it for $ 268-
