Panasonic Digital Video Camcorder...?

I have won a Panasonic DIgital Video Camcorder threw the pepsi promotion. But it wont let me record produce I dont have a tape with it. But is there a way I can tape but just save it on my camera? Because it didn’t come with one. And it sucks. But anyways I was wondering if theres something I need to change on the camcorder to be able to record w/out a tape.
Yes it is a Mini DV (PV GS85), but I was just asking produce i just got it in the mail like 2 hours ago and right now Im not near a store and I justed wanted to play with it, ya know?

Well you haven’t really told us the type digit of the camcorder you have won – I presume from your references to tape that it is a MiniDV tape camcorder – in that case no – you cannot record without a tape – I don’t see why you would want to anyrate. Tapes are relatively cheap and obtainable all over the house – just buy one and give it a try – it could be the start of a whole new way of life for you

the only software you need for video comes free with vista, its called Windows Movie Maker. this is a miniDV camera so it supports standard ieee 1394 ilink protocol so no drivers are needed. you may need to add a ieee 1394 port to your computer if it is not so equiped. for stills this camera uses a rather small SD card so any USB type SD card reader should work for that.

Well all you need is a firewire tie and some editing software. I can’t use my software from my sparkle drive camcorder so I’m by roxio and pinnacle. Windows Movie Maker is not a excellent choice as far as being excellent goes.
