How can I copy DVDs from Sony Handycam to my computer?
I have finalized mini-dvds from my Sony Handycam (that we sold a few months ago) and I want to copy them down on my computer (with a DVD drive that works). Though, when insert the DVDs it doesn’t read them. Help? I know there are movies and photos on these discs!
@Holly: I know there is info on these mini DVDs but the computer is not showing any of the info.

I reckon this step by step guide will help you a lot. It will show you how to rip and copy video from DVD to computer hard drive. Supports personal DVD and copyright protected DVD. The guide is simple to know and it works pretty well for me all the time.

So many people are having this conundrum, No that helps you but, this is the only cheap way I know to recover the videos.
download a copy of IsoBuster from
www.isobuster.com
Bed in the software (its only a trial) run the programe and see if the software will recover your videos, if it does then you have to buy the software. thats the only downside.
you can at least use it to see if you can recover it. the other alternative is to send them to a professional recovery company, this is not s cheap option
thats about the only way, there are other data recovery progs around but this one is the only one that I have found to do a excellent job

I have a Sony HandyCam DCR-HC21 and I want to buy a Flip Mino HD. Is that a mistake? I want the best quality I can get for $ 150 or less.
Answer by Mmm J
The Sony DCR-HC21 is a miniDV tape based, standard definition video, low compression, camcorder.
The Flip Mino HD is a sparkle memory based, high definition video, high compression, camcorder.
If the video you want to capture is under excellent lighting, then both camcorders will do fine – but the Flip will look better because it is recording high definition video.
The HC21:
* has a larger lens system and imaging chips and under low set alight situation will behave better.
* records to low compression DV and is much better for quick action video capture.
* has a built-in infrared emitter – “NightShot” mode – and can capture monochrome video under zero-visible set alight situation. The Flip cannot “see” in the dark.
* came with a remote control. The Flip has none.
* has 20x optical zoom. The Flip’s zoom is WAY less.
* has image stabilization. The Flip does not.
* has manual focus (through the menu). The Flip does not.

The HC21 connects to a computer by firewire.
The Flip uses USB.
The Flip can fit in a pocket – the HC21 is a bit large for that.
It depends what you need – personally, I would stay with the HC21… so yeah, moving from the HC21 to a Flip would be a downgrade.
