and would it be possible to read and edit on macintoch ( apple ) ?

Answer by Earl D
It seems to have a SD mode (the specs I looked at called it HE as opposed to HF and HN, but they were in Turkish PAL).

I believe, though iMovie imports in HD and can convert to SD for final rendering.

iMovie HD supports these types of video formats
DV
DV Widescreen
HDV 1080i (25 and 30 fps)
HDV 720p (25 and 30 fps)
MPEG 4 Simple Profile
iSight
If you want to edit footage on a Mac, I suggest you look for a video camera that records on one of the formats iMovie supports, the camera your asking about doesn’t.

Comparing the video output from the Panasonic FX37, Sony Webbie HD, Kodak Zi6, and Flip mino HD Camera by a Test Rig I place together.

The Sony Webbie has a clean swivel lens AND records 1080p.

The Kodak Zi6 has benefits too like removable batteries and storage.

The Flip FlipShare software is fantastic for newbies too. It depends on your level of expertise.

I like the Panasonic FX37 best. Like the wide angle lens.

I have a point and shoot Panasonic camera that shoots in HD video. My wife would like a camcorder (basically a video camera). I am trying to figure out does a camcorder do anything different or better than a point and shoot regular camera that does video? Thanks

Answer by Sm
normal cameras which shoot video have a really low frame speed(usually 30FPS) means that the camera takes 30 individual pictures moving(in one second) sequentially to make a video. you will notice when you are playing it on TV that the video jumps from one vista to another; that is because the camera cant shoot quick enough to capture those moments. camcorders are better because they have a higher FPS(like 60-90FPS or so), plus they have up to 2000x digital zoom, and like 30x optical zoom, and the video isnt choppy like normal cameras, and it runs smoothly when you watch it on TV

A camcorder, depending on size will usually have more features. A palm-size and/or larger cam could have more manual controls such has manual focus, ability to set set alight balance, external microphone jack, shoe mount for add-on set alight or mic, And most have threaded lens barrels for and-on filters, etc. Also a palm-size or larger camcorder makes it simpler to hold, to control. And most have a pop-out LCD screen to monitor (lots of users like that). Camcorders usually hold more video than a point-and-shoot cam. Also, a camcorder could have a larger and better sensor and better quality lens. There are digital single-lens reflex cameras (D-SLR) on the promote that shoot full HD. One of the draw-backs is the quantity memory storage, depending on the media. But with D-SLRs, you have the ability to change lenses, which can allow you control over depth of field. All this is subjective to what a user desires in a camera.

Cameras take fantastic pics but average video and camcorders take fantastic video and average pictures.
