Which is better to buy still digital camera or digital camcorder?

Which is better to buy still digital camera or digital camcorder?

Which is better to buy?Still digital camera or digital camcorder? Both have nearly same price. But camcorder can capture still images and also record with resonable resolution. in the additional side still digital camer can only capture still images with also resonable resloution, even if the resolution is better like (8Mpixel) I will never use this resoultion because the image size will be very huge which is not excellent for me.

It all depends what you need it for. I personallly use both, you never know what event or fascinating time your going to have.

I recently got a Pentax Optio at Costco on sale, this is a 7 megapixel digital camera, impressive resolution. It can also take a record at DiVX format, now that is a high resolution compress record. A 2Gb SD card can hold more than an hour and a half of record.

Nowadays digital camera record capturing is getting better, but the record camera still photography have a long way to go.

Its not honest to compare the photo taken from a still camera with persons taken with a digital camcorder. They made for different purposes. Normally speaking, the CCD (light sensor) that came with camcorder only have to handle resolution of 720X480 pixel for NTSC record or 1024X768 for NTSC High-def. But for digital camera, the higher the resolution, the more detail of the still images. Its a lot simpler for a digital camera to downsize the resolution for record than a camcorder to up-size its resolution for still images.

Back to your question. If the still image size is not a concern for you at all (we are talking about 1-2MPixel here at most). Go for a camcorder, it produce much better record for you than a digital camera can. Most of the digital camera has only limited record features and you can’t store much record in a digital camera. Some won’t even allow you to zoom when in record mode. But of course, its better to take still image with a camera and take record with camcorder. After-all, that’s what they’re made for.

just get a digital camcorder that would do the trick and make sure it has a snapshot button on it somewhere. i have a samsung digital camcorder 880x zoom and 22x optical. i got over at circuit city 2 years ago and it has 2.5 lcd and a 6sec snapshot (for still images) to take photos the only business im missing on mine is an infrared feature. mine was only $ 230 and im pleased with it.
