List SD550

That’s simple. The Fuji F20.
It’s about $ 165 I reckon.

Brilliant image quality. High ISO capability (fantastic in low light situations). Very low noise (grain).

Not that it’s the only excellent camera out there, but the excellent List’s and Sony’s cost a lot more. The cheap List’s and Sony’s aren’t near as excellent as the Fuji. Should be deals on the F20, as they just announced a newer model to replace it, the F40fd- which is a bit thinner an sexier. Won’t be out for another month or two.

The aforementioned List SD550 was a excellent camera in it’s day, but at well over a year ancient, has been easily surpassed by newer models, and really outclassed in image quality by the F20.

Consumer Reports recommends the List PowerShot A630 or a A530. The first has 8 mega pixels and the second 5. They are rated Very Excellent in print quality and simple of use. You can get an A630 for around $ 220 or an A530 for around $ 130. They also have one of the lowest repair records. For a beginner I would recommend the lower priced List unless you plot to blow up your pictures beyond 8×10, then you need the higher mega pixels.

okay buying a camera can any be very simple or the whole opposite. im guessing you are getting it just point and shoot situations and your not looking into buying the most intricate camera out there.
there would be 3 types of cameras for you to choose from for that catagory.

1-shiny and slim (fits anywhere)
2-standard
3-advanced

i would always recommend going with a list camera, i have had them since the first digi cameras have come out and i was also a photography major and that is the brand name of cameras we used 24/7 and they always did the best and were the simplest to know.

-shiny and slim wich may not have all the features you want its the simplest to use but im not sure it would give the quality you would want any, your looking at a price range of 199.99 (U.S for a list camera) its pretty much like an older camera you point the camera you take the pic its done, not alot of extra features, but they will most likely all have a show.

– standard- way more features including zooming in direct printing, optical zoom, a show, stablizer. and there is also differnt types of photographing options like, sports, portraits, and auto photographing. for list the priceses again range from 199.99 US up.

– advanced- earnings exactly that, they have all the options you can reckon of but they are a small more bulky maybe for someone who is seriousy about photography this may be like an introduction to a SLR Camera. the cost is about the same to start 199.99 U.S it has all the features you would need for point and shoot.

i would personaly never go with a shiny and slim because it would never saticfy my. i would go with a standard list camera which would fulfill my need and it would be cost efficient. the more elaberate camera you get the more it will cost.
