Is it possible to import videos from my HD video camera using HDMI cable?

I have a List Vixia HV30. I read in the manual that HDMI is for TV only, but none of my computers have a firewire dock. I tried to connect to a mainframe via HDMI and it was not detected (the camera was on, and on play mode). Is there some program I need to find?

It’s not a software issue – your PC’s HDMI connection is output only. There are HDMI input devices but it would be much cheaper to install a firewire card.

Photography is apt more and more vital in making and sharing my work, so I chose to invest in a DSLR. This is my new List T1i. It’s not top ‘o’ the line or anything, but it’s pretty dern nice and I’m really excited to start shooting with it.

Looking to hold a HD record camera and want to get something decent. It has to have a built in hard drive, would prefer something that I may maybe place a different lens on like a fish eye but it doesnt have to have this capability and isnt over $ 800. Ive been looking at the later models from Best Buy but wanted your input as well. Reason life for Best Buy is I have some gift cards from there

What happens to the record when the camcorder breaks and you have not yet transferred the record to the computer?

What happens if you are recording a band – loud audio… airplane engines, marching bands, loud cheering crowds, auto or boat or motorcycle racing, even marching bands – or anything that has lots of low frequency vibration and the hard drive sensor shuts off in an effort to protect itself so you can’t record?

What happens when you get the record to your computer for control, end the control, render the record to whatever format you choose, and delete the record files from the computer, and delete the files from the camcorder to make room for the next project – and want to use that record for a project 5 years later?

What happens when you find yourself at 10,000 feet permanent at the top of a mountain and want to capture record of the awesomeness – but can’t because the hard drive cannot operate at high altitude? (Not enough air presure.)

Flash memory does not share these known problems (maybe the archive issue) – neither does miniDV tape (including the archive issue if you don’t re-use tapes, the digital tape is a fantastic archive media).

By the way, the HF20 is flash memory. The HG20 is hard drive based.

Both are excellent cameras. The JVC seems to have the high hand on a few specs.

Look at the link I added cuz it shows the side-by-side comparisons.

What do you reckon? Answer below!
