I just want the best tv for my money.

I’ve done alot of research on the two and I know plasma will have glare. Many reviewers said its not a huge deal on this years model tho so I guess I’ll take their word for it.

The best buy store I will be going to has them both for the same price, $ 899 right now. While i was there, I also really liked the samsung 40″ led. Picture looked fantastic, but its $ 100 more and the screen size just feels small in comparison to the 42″ even. Maybe i’m life picky. Anyways, please help! thank you

LED is newer technology.

Having seriously looked at Panasonic plasmas (I finished up with a Samsung), and the fact that my neighbor has a Panasonic plasma and it looks really excellent, you won’t make a terrible choice choosing a Panasonic Plasma. Consumer Reports tariff them highly as well.

Regarding glare on Plasmas, what you need to do is make sure not to place it so a direct light source, like a window or lamp won’t be reflected off the screen at an angle you would see it. I picked my plasma with this in mind, and knew there would be no direct light sources reflecting off of my plasma from where I would be viewing it.

Screen size does make a difference. I used to reckon my 50″ plasma was huge. Now it seems kinda small. I imagine a 42″ or 40″ would only feel smaller.

I hear Panasonic’s the best when it comes to Plasma. Is the Viera line the most recent? Is it the best in picture quality right now?

Answer by ZshadeZ
Panasonic calls EVERY flat panel a Viera the same way Sony calls every flat panel a Bravia. I know it makes no sense, it’s kind of like Ford calling every vehicle it makes an F10.

Current Panasonic models numbers run like: TCP50X1, TCP50S1, TCP50G1… in this case the *lower* letter at the end life the higher model.

As in…X1 is not as excellent as S1, S1 is not as excellent as G1, etc.

As far as brand goes I would HIGHLY reccomend Panasonic, as they have the lowest repair rate in the industry at the moment and make DAMNED excellent televisions (for movies, TV, gaming, PC monitor, whatever).
