what kind of digital camera should I get?

what kind of digital camera should I get?

I’m going to Europe for a month this summer and I need a excellent camera that has high resolution, is light and can catch motion well. I’m not worried about how many pitures it can hold because I’m plotting on buying several memory cards.

I’m thinking of the Cannon SD450. I saw it @ target for $ 299.99 is that a excellent deal?

Are there any cameras that would be better?

Should I get a record recorder insted?

I was agreed an HP Photosmart 3.2 MP with auto focus and 3 x optical zoom for my birthday and I reckon it is fantastic. I have used others but I find mine to be the best in terms of weight, user friendly features. It has a record option also that takes fantastic videos. It has many additional features that I haven’t reasonably figured out yet. But, it also has a timer on it. I like it much better than any I have used or seen so far.

Also, for the price of your Cannon SD450, I reckon that is a excellent deal.

i would defenately recommend a working one
i tried to use a broken one recently, and was dissapointed

depends how much record taping you do, the videos taken on camera are okay outside, but poor indoors.

wearas the record cameras take excellent vidoes and i reckon excellent photos, but are bulkier and more expensive

I like my digital SLR. It is a small more costly, but the pics are incredible. I’m not advanced in anyway in photography, but can still get excellent results.

Nikon has some fantastic mid-range cameras that you may maybe also look into, just below an sLR incredible pictures as well.

If this is a once in a time trip, you will want to be sure whatever you take is perfect, so be sure to get something excellent and get what you like the first time to avoid extra costs. Most pictures you will won’t be able to take again, so you want them to be perfect.

I use both a camera and a camcorder, it gets bulky sometimes, but that way I can have the best of both. I usually travel with my family, so one takes the camera and one the record cam, so we cover everything, it works excellent.

But don’t get one or the additional and then rely on the capbability of it to do the additional aspect. If you want mostly record, most cameras will have a still pic option. You will lose quality, but you can take the picture if you really want it . Likewise with the camera, most take vidoe, but you will lose quality.

I say get a excellent camera and get a excellent record cam that is small and light weight. Sometimes you can’t use flash, sometimes you can’t use record, this way you have both options available and won’t ever be in the dark.

here are some cameras you may maybe consider

What do you reckon? Answer below!

i just read in a magazine that Durracel is better, but the lithium batteries i bought says it lasts up 7X longer in digital cameras. plz tell me i didn’t waste my 5 dollars on these batteries in Target.

Answer by species736
I personally like the energizer lithiums, but duracell should be fine. They really do make a difference. In my camera a fixed battery does 50-100 pics (at the most), and the lithiums easily do 300, if not more. Using the flash varies the battery life a lot though, so I dont have more exact examples.

Your camera is calculated and optimized for NiMH rechargeable batteries… any 2500 mAh rated battery will work just fine. You can usually find a four battery with charger for package for under $ 30.

The additional business you can do is use energy management and keep the LCD off whenever you are not really using the camera.

I can see how it can be confusing … Li-ion rechargeable batteries are state of the art, while the one use Lithium batteries are excellent for applications additional than digital cameras … like my flash units for instance.

your 5 dollars will go a long way. My father used to use a nikon that ate up alkaline batteries for breakfast. I told him to buy some lithiums and he was surprised at how long they lasted. Word of advice, don’t use the camera much to view your images because you are just wasting battery. Also, try and use a card reader because you won’t be using the battery for that purpose any. Basically, just try and only use the battery for taking images. And by all earnings, don’t use the camera to do a “slideshow” on the television.
