How much did a nikon d70 cost?

How much did a nikon d70 cost?

I recently got a hand-me-down camera from a relative. It’s a nikon d70. I’m curious what it cost when it was first sold. (My camera was probably bought around 2006, so what did a new nikon d70 cost in 2006?)
I’m positively sure it was bought from B&H in New York City.

Prices appear all over the board anywhere from about $ 500 to $ 1,100 depending on where you look.

I have a nikon D70 and I need a flash. I am taking pictures at a wedding reception which will have low lighting so I am also wondering if a flash alone will do the job.

The SB-600 is an brilliant flash for shooting weddings. You will want to buy a diffuser like persons made by Gary Fong

I own two SB-600s, and if you’re doing on-place photography, such as weddings, they’re a fantastic deal. Everything in my portfolio at http://posewith.us has been done with any natural light, or one or more SB-600.

The real benefit you’ll find with the SB-600 over the cheaper SB-400 is the ability to bounce the flash. If the ceilings are low enough and neutrally-colored, you can essentially use the entire ceiling as one large diffuser. Drop-tile ceilings are particularly wonderful for this. (Example: http://www.flickr.com/photos/rgeorgi/3943762300/)

While the SB-600 doesn’t have the extra power offered by the SB-800 and SB-900, nor the ability to remotely mandate additional flashes, you probably won’t need the power, and if you do choose to upgrade, the SB-600 can be remotely commanded by one of the more powerful ones, or a dedicated SU-800 (~$ 250). I’d say go for it.
