Olympus Pen e-p1 Digital camera Black and white mode?
Does anyone know how to shoot in black and white mode by the Olympus Pen E-P1 digital camera. Its not in the manual nor is it simple to find on the cameras menu. Thanks
Thanks for the answer Jim.
Though I have read that it indeed does have black and white, though on the websites they do not clarify how to activate it as such.
Cheers

What would be your conclusion? I’d say if it’s not in the manual or in the menus then it isn’t there.

About applying any sort of effect in camera: DON’T DO IT !
Imagine if you just happen to take the best photo you ever took – surely you would want to have it in all its glory, right? People so often regret having only a b&w (or other effect) photo, and question how to turn it back into colour, which of course is impossible to do.
Always set your camera to largest size, best quality (and to color).
That way, you start with the best possible photo as your original.
Then you make a copy and edit it to your heart’s content.
You have much better control over any editing on your computer, even something as simple as b&w will look MUCH better when it was processed properly instead of in camera.
You can do all sorts of things to it PLUS you get to keep your original.
If you’re determined to ignore this advice and do it in camera, anyway, read the manual and/or the manufacturer’s website and/or your camera’s menu.

OK so my camera use to hold up to 200 photos and have about 41 or 44 minutes. I broke it by accident and when I got it back weeks later it now only holds 23 photos, i.e i can take only 23 photos and have a video that is 21 seconds long.
delight help with any conundrum!?!? We lost the manual and th other one is in spanish. We need English!

Eh? Do you not know how to use Google? Just the name of your camera and the word “manual” and the magical internet will provide the manual. Congratulations.
Sounds like the card is broken or no longer inserted properly and the camera is just by the internal memory. Try pulling the card out and reinserting it.
There may also be data on the card that the camera can’t rub out for some reason. Try formatting the card by the camera’s format utility located somewhere in the menus.
If none of that works, try a new card and hope it’s the card that’s shot and not the camera itself.

Is your memory card inserted correctly? If it was in the camera when you had it repaired I would take it back and question why it no longer holds as many pictures.

OK, DO NOT format your card.
You will need to download a new copy of the manual – this link will take you to the Olympus America camera support site, they have down-loadable copies of most of their camera manuals ~

The most liable conundrum is that the quality setting for your recorded images has been altered to a much higher level. This would clarify the difference and can easily be adjusted from the camera menus.
HTH, Excellent luck

The memory card has been replaced. Question the repair shop about it. You must know the original size of your memory card in the first house to demand what is rightfully yours.
If you’re not up to it, buy a new memory card. Get a larger one. Bring your camera with you to be sure you get the right size (physical dimensions). 1-2Gb is the norm but if your camera can accept higher, then why not? There are 4 and 8Gb and possibly even more. Don’t worry. They are relatively cheap. Buy two even in case you max out the first one.
