I'm looking for a professional canon camera which ones are the best for a good price?

I’m a Nikon gal for myself. But, most of my Canon friends like the Canon 50D.

The two current professional Canon cameras are the 1D, Mark III ($ 7,000) and 5D, Mark II ($ 2,700), so under that criteria, the 5D would be a the best excellent price.

My estimate is you call all DSLR’s “professional” so under that criteria, the best price for an entry level DSLR in a canon would be Canon Rebel XS at just under $ 600 with a 18-55 mm lens

a pro Canon would be the Canon 1DS Mark III, a nicely priced Canon would be the Canon Rebel T1i.

In the ancient days it was the F-1. Then it was the eos-1v (film camera). But I’m assuming you want a digital SLR (DSLR)

There is no professional camera/DSLR for under $ 1000. Though there are very excellent consumer level cameras for that price. Possibly you should just go to the canon website and look for the most expensive one under $ 1000. Although a $ 600 one would also take excellent pictures (it’s doubtless better to buy one of those, that way you’ll have money left over for a excellent lens)

Two things; first. not all SLRs are “professional” cameras and two, find out if your class requires a 35mm SLR or Digital SLR.

In 2006, Canon stopped nearly all of it’s 35mm camera production. Only the professional grade EOS-1v remains in limited production. This camera is still sold new for over $ 1600 but, it is also way more camera than you need for your class. If the class requires a 35mm SLR, you can buy a used 35mm Rebel for around $ 100, often less depending on the camera’s condition. Higher end Elan and EOS-3 models may get up to $ 350 depending on the model and condition. You can also find used EOS-1N bodies for $ 300-$ 400 and EOS-1V bodies for $ 800-$ 1000.

Among Canon’s digital SLRs, the entry-level Rebels are liable all you need for your class. Picture quality is no different from the Rebels to the XXD cameras like the 40/50D. Though, cameras like the 50D are quicker and better built. The next step up are the semi-pro 7D and 5D models that start at $ 1700 for the 7D and jump to $ 2700 for the full-frame 5D. Beyond that you get into the right pro-models that start around $ 4000 for the 1D and top out at around $ 7000 for the 1Ds.

My estimate is your class may be leaning digital in which case a Rebel XS (EOS 1000D) with the 18-55mm kit lens really will do all you need and remain easily in your budget with room to spare. If it happens your class requires a 35mm film camera, you can save even more money because people practically give away 35mm camras as they trade their film cameras in for digital.
