This Nikon is a fine entry-level point and shoot still camera that happens to take highly compressed video. You get what you pay for. If you truly want/need “top signal quality” as you say, the tiny built-in mic will not do what you want. And if you are plotting to capture loud audio, lack of manual audio controls will result in muddy, a waste of time, audio. There are many reasons camcorders, that are designed to capture video, have mic jacks and manual audio and lots of controls specific to capturing video… and typically, they do a poor job of taking stills (everywhere this camera would do a fine job).

I don’t have a lot of money to spend on a camera (about $ 250) and I want a nikon digital camera. It is really vital for me to get the image stabalize feature, and I want a quality camera. Anyone know of any excellent ones for the right price? And any reviews would be helpful. Thanks!!
i got the nikon s6000 i like it!

I Don’t Reckon you will get an DSLR for that price… Possibly look around for a compact camera…
