can sony batteries be used in non-sony cameras?

my dad bought sony rechargeable ni-mh batteries. conundrum is his camera is not a sony model. i know sony is quite choosy with its accessories. are these batteries compatible only with sony products (e.g. digital cameras)?

You can use ANY brand of rechargeable AA size NiMH battery in ANY brand of camera that uses AA size batteries.

So…your Dad can use his Sony batteries in his Canon, Fuji, Kodak…or whichever brand of camera that he has!

I’m looking to buy a digital camera at Walmart. But I am on a budget and don’t really want to spend alot on a camera. I’m trying to spend no more than $ 150. I was looking online at the ones that were “in store” in my area since I won’t be able to buy the “online only” ones. Which do you reckon would be the best of these five? Is one with a linthium ion battery better than one that takes alkaline batteries? Which is a better deal with or without the accessories that come with it? Which has the best key features? For taking pictures of family and for myself at home and outdoors wherever we may be. I also like to use different effects like sepia, black&white, ect…
