Which camera: Nikon D60, or Sony Alpha a300 ?

Which camera: Nikon D60, or Sony Alpha a300 ?

I want a excellent DSLR that has a decent quantity of focus points, and many features worth the money. I’m not so concerned with the more lenses; I won’t be export too many anytime soon and the lenses i have my eye on for the sony are fine with me. But apparently Nikon’s picture quality is overall better ? Consumer reports are charitable me conflicting information… so help delight ! (:

Doom on Consumer Reports. They used to do this being ago with all kinds of things.

If you are an advanced amateur, then the Sony is just fine. Sony has 26 lenses you can use and delight in by it for many decades.

If you even have a glimmer that you may go pro or semi-pro, then you will want to buy the Nikon. More lenses, more support bodies (up and down the cost extent) and one of the most aggressive when it comes to providing professionals with the latest technology.

Go with the nikon. I have had 2 nikons and have pretty much chose I will always buy nikon. They are very well built, have a plethora of options, retain their resale value, and will provide you being and being of quality pictures. Nikon will provide you with better in camera processing and higher grade sensors, so yes you will get better quality pictures.

Nikon has a wider range of digital lens and accepts film lens from as far back as 1970, Sony accepts Sony and Minolta Maximum digital lens and they are minimal, whats fascinating, both cameras use an image sensor made by Sony. I’d get Nikon only because I use Nikon and I am satisfied

What do you reckon? Answer below!

8 + hours of shooting a photo each 30 seconds during the setup and execution of the Consumer Reports’ "Best Drugs for Less" promotion.

does anyone have anything to say about this camera. I want to buy it for my gf for christmas because Consumer Reports said it was the best buy, but I know nothing about cameras.

Nikon has some comparison information on their camera line. If it’s her first slr it would be a excellent gift but it’s really kind of an entry level slr. If she is really into photography or if she has film and desires to switch to digital than this would doubtless not be advanced enough for what she’ll need or want.

I would recommend Nikon though, whatever you choose to get.

I work at a consumer electronics retailer and although I don’t work in the camera department everyone that works in that department tells me that Canon’s are the best. Once I started asking them which one they own I learned that none of them really have a DSLR. When customers come in to buy one of these cameras they have typically done their research and most that are looking for an entry level DSLR go for the Nikon D40. One customer told me that Consumer Reports listed the D40 as the best to buy.

The Nikon D40 DSLR is not terrible for a entry-level SLR photographer, but if your girlfriend is already used to shooting with a SLR you might want to look at another DSLR camera. Check out the link below for a review done by CNET.com!

Depends on the experience of your GF. If she’s an accomplished photographer and/or has a bunch of lenses in the closet, the D40 wouldn’t be the best choice. If she has ancient lenses, then you should investigate getting a camera body which will fit the lenses. Glass is expensive! If she’s an accomplished photographer, she might be better off with a slightly more advanced camera body.

If she likes taking pictures for fun/enjoyment, then the D40 is a fantastic choice. I really delight in mine. If she doesn’t print pictures larger than 8×10, the 6Mpixel D40 is impeccably excellent. Otherwise, you may consider the D40X. My only gripe about the D40 is the exposure tends to blow out the highlights. This is easily corrected if you shoot in Program mode and provide an EV correction of -2/3 or -1/3.

Check out Ken Rockwell’s site. He has a lot to say about the D40 and other cameras. He also has a very nice guide on setting up the camera.

Be sure to get a 2 GB, or larger, memory card. She’ll need it.
